Greetings everyone, and welcome to my blog.
This weekend I decided to stay home, since my birthday girl is traveling and returns on Monday. I still have some movies waiting to be downloaded for a Saturday and Sunday marathon without electricity, books on hold, and some snacks to make.
It sounds so strange to say that, but that's the typical list of plans for a Venezuelan if they're going to stay home for the weekend. Yesterday morning I did a mini grocery shop for the weekend and bought some of the ingredients for my daughter's birthday cake because they don't sell them all at the same store.
After getting home, I started preparing breakfast since I had an invitation from a friend to have a potluck breakfast at her house; we would each bring something and put it together there. I had some avocados that ripened around the same time, and I've had to prepare several avocado-based dishes, but I'm happy because I love them.
When I arrived at my friend's house, she also had avocado as part of her breakfast, hahaha, but that's because she has a tree in her yard, and it's super laden with fruit. I made some mini arepas and filled them with chicken salad, avocado, and mayonnaise—basically, I made mini reina pepiadas—and she made a zucchini omelet that turned out delicious. There was also a carrot and avocado salad.
I took the opportunity to take pictures in her garden, and I even met Mrs. Iguana, one of the many that live in her trees. Sitting on her porch having breakfast, or doing whatever, is like spending hours admiring the different natural species that visit her. I had the chance to see a hummingbird in a flowerpot, but I could only take a video of it since photographing it is a process.
We ended up having breakfast/lunch together since it was already midday, and it's been a while since we'd talked in person, only through chats. It's so nice to share something tangible, live, face-to-face; we can't skip this every day. Technology keeps us connected, it's true, but we need to normalize in-person connections more than digital ones.

Saludos a todos, y bienvenidos a mi blog.
Este fin de semana decidí pasarlo en casa, ya que mi cumpleañera está de viaje y regresa el lunes. Todavía tengo algunas películas pendientes en descarga para el maratón de sábado y domingo sin energía eléctrica, y libros en pausa, y algunas meriendas.
Suena tan raro decir eso, pero así es la lista de planes del venezolano si se va a quedar en la casa un fin de semana. Ayer en la mañana hice un mini mercado para el fin de semana y compré una parte de los ingredientes para la torta de cumpleaños de mi hija porque no los venden todos en un mismo abasto.
Después de llegar a casa, comencé a preparar el desayuno ya que tenía una invitación con una amiga para desayunar en su casa tipo compartir, cada quien llevaría algo y allá armábamos el plato. Tenía unos aguacates guardados que se me maduraron casi al mismo tiempo, y he tenido que preparar varias comidas en base a aguacate, pero yo feliz, porque me encanta.
Al llegar a la casa de mi amiga, ella también tenía aguacate como parte del desayuno, jajajaja, pero es que ella tiene un árbol en el patio, y está súper cargado. Yo preparé unas mini arepitas, y las rellené con ensalada de pollo, aguacate y mayonesa, o sea, hice unas mini reinas pepiadas, y ella preparó una tortilla de calabacín que le quedó muy rica. Aparte, ensalada de zanahoria y aguacate.
Aproveché de tomar fotos en su conuco, y hasta conocí a la señora Iguana, que es una de las tantas que viven en sus árboles. Sentarse en el corredor de su casa a desayunar, o a lo que sea, es pasar horas admirando a las distintas especies naturales que la visitan. Tuve la oportunidad de mirar a un tucusito o colibrí en un matero, pero de él sólo pude hacer un vídeo ya que fotografiarlo es un proceso.
Terminamos haciendo desayuno/almuerzo ya que nos agarró la hora del mediodía, y es que hace tiempo no conversábamos en forma natural, sino por medio de chats. Qué grato es compartir en forma tangible, en vivo, cara a cara, no podemos saltarnos esto todos los días. La tecnología nos mantiene conectados, es verdad, pero debemos normalizar más la conexión presencial que la digital.
