Días atrás habíamos planeado ver alguna película de terror que tratara del Martes 13, pero entre las recomendaciones que busqué en las suscripciones, me encontré con una descarga que había hecho semanas atrás y que no había terminado de ver. De hecho, sólo vi los primeros minutos. Se trata de "La posesión de la momia".

Confieso que me atraen todas las películas que tratan sobre momias y misterios de Egipto, pirámides, costumbres, tradiciones, y todo lo que encierra la vida de aquellos pobladores, faraones, y sus formas de sepultar a los muertos. Una de mis sagas favoritas es "La momia", con Brendan Fraser, y la he visto muchas veces.

Pero esta película que acabo de ver, es una producción bastante reciente, de abril de 2026, y fue producida y dirigida por Lee Cronin. En España se titula "La momia de Lee Cronin", y en Hispanoamérica, "La posesión de la momia".

¿De qué trata la película?

La película trata sobre una familia conformada por el padre, Charlie, que era un periodista de reportajes de investigación, Larissa, la madre, que era enfermera, tres hijos pequeños, y la abuela materna. Ellos vivían en El Cairo, Egipto, antes de la llegada de su tercer hijo. Estando ahí, les secuestraron a la niña mayor, Katie.

Katie conversaba con una extraña mujer todos los días cuando iba a jugar en el jardín de su casa, y el día del secuestro, su papá salió a buscarla por las calles del Cairo, pero jamás la encontró.

Una investigadora se encargó del caso y 8 años después encontraron a la niña, viva, momificada, y encerrada en un ataúd, cubierta de vendas que llevaban unas escrituras que Charlie tuvo que buscar a un arqueólogo para que lo ayudara a descifrarlas.

La niña regresó a casa con sus padres para ser cuidada, pero su aspecto y comportamiento no eran normales. Conjuntamente con la investigadora, la familia comenzó a indagar lo que realmente había sucedido con la niña, y lo que descubrieron, y todos los sucesos después de su llegada a la casa, fueron espeluznantes. La trama los dejará fijados a la pantalla para querer conocer el desenlace, les recomiendo verla si son amantes de las películas de terror, misterios egipcios y situaciones paranormales.

A few days ago, we had planned to watch a horror movie themed around "Friday the 13th," but while looking through my subscriptions for recommendations, I came across a download I’d made weeks earlier—one I hadn’t finished watching. In fact, I had only seen the first few minutes. The film is titled "The Mummy’s Possession" (La posesión de la momia).

I must confess that I’m drawn to any film involving mummies, the mysteries of Egypt, pyramids, ancient customs and traditions, and everything surrounding the lives of those who lived there—the pharaohs and their burial practices. One of my favorite film series is "The Mummy," starring Brendan Fraser; I’ve watched it many times.

The movie I just finished is a fairly recent production, released in April 2026, and was produced and directed by Lee Cronin. In Spain, it’s titled "Lee Cronin’s The Mummy," while in Latin America, it’s known as "The Mummy’s Possession."

What is the film about?

The story centers on a family: the father, Charlie—an investigative journalist—and the mother, Larissa—a nurse—along with their three young children and the maternal grandmother. They were living in Cairo, Egypt, before the arrival of their third child. While there, their eldest daughter, Katie, was kidnapped.

Every day, while playing in the garden, Katie would talk to a mysterious woman. On the day of the abduction, her father went out to search for her through the streets of Cairo, but he never found her.

An investigator took on the case, and eight years later, the girl was discovered—alive, yet mummified and locked inside a coffin. She was wrapped in bandages covered in inscriptions, which led Charlie to seek out an archaeologist to help him decipher them. The girl returned home to her parents to be cared for, but her appearance and behavior were not normal. Together with an investigator, the family began to look into what had actually happened to her; what they uncovered—and everything that unfolded after her arrival home—was truly chilling.
