Hello, my dear foodie friends!
I hope you’re all doing great, surrounded by the love of your family and enjoying good health and well-being.
After picking up my family at the airport, it was time for lunch, and—as good hosts—we wanted to take them to enjoy one of our favorite dishes from Colombian cuisine: a delicious ajiaco! We were so excited for them to try this traditional Bogotá dish and, above all, to share one of our favorite flavors with them.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we realized something: there were nine of us! So we had to push several tables together so we could all sit around a single table, just like back in the day at my house in Venezuela, when the family would gather to share meals, chat, and enjoy each other’s company.
We all enjoyed a delicious ajiaco made with chicken and potatoes, served with capers and heavy cream. We were also served rice, avocado, corn on the cob, and some delicious fried plantains that rounded out this wonderful feast.

Espero que todos estén muy bien, rodeados del amor de su familia y gozando de salud y bienestar.
Después de recibir a mi familia en el aeropuerto, llegó la hora del almuerzo y, como buenos anfitriones, quisimos llevarlos a disfrutar de uno de los platos que más nos gustan de la gastronomía colombiana: ¡un delicioso ajiaco! Nos hacía mucha ilusión que probaran esta comida tradicional de Bogotá y, sobre todo, compartir con ellos uno de nuestros sabores favoritos.
Cuando llegamos al restaurante, nos encontramos con un pequeño detalle: ¡éramos nueve personas! Así que tuvimos que juntar varias mesas para poder sentarnos todos alrededor de una sola, como en aquellos tiempos de mi casa en Venezuela, cuando la familia se reunía para compartir las comidas, conversar y disfrutar de estar juntos.
Todos disfrutamos de un delicioso ajiaco preparado con pollo, papas y acompañado de alcaparras y crema de leche. También nos sirvieron arroz, aguacate, mazorca y unos ricos plátanos fritos que completaron este maravilloso festín.
Everyone loved it! It was so nice to see how much they enjoyed every bite and to realize that we’d made the right choice. But beyond the food, what really made our lunch special was the joy of having them here, sharing this moment with us.
I was immensely happy. After waiting so long, dealing with the distance, and longing to see each other again, we were finally together, close by, chatting, and enjoying those little moments that mean so much.
As I watched everyone gathered around the table, I couldn’t help but think of family gatherings back home. I felt that, in some way, we were recapturing a little piece of those cherished times.
¡A todos les encantó! Fue muy bonito ver cómo disfrutaban cada bocado y descubrir que habíamos acertado con nuestra elección. Pero, más allá de la comida, lo que realmente hizo especial nuestro almuerzo fue la alegría de tenerlos aquí, compartiendo con nosotros.
Yo estaba inmensamente feliz. Después de tanto esperar, de las distancias y de las ganas de volver a encontrarnos, por fin estábamos juntos, cerquita, conversando y disfrutando de esos pequeños momentos que tanto significan.
Mientras los veía a todos alrededor de la mesa, no podía evitar recordar las reuniones familiares en mi país. Sentí que, de alguna manera, estábamos recuperando un pedacito de aquellos tiempos tan queridos.
