There are moments in life when, without expecting or planning it, we open that great book once more, a book that may be very large or not so large, a book where every page holds endless memories, ranging from simple, everyday things to great experiences, whilst reflecting on events that have taken place, circumstances and, above all, people’s attitudes. It’s incredible how, looking back from a distance in time and knowing parts of the jigsaw puzzle that makes up that whole past, we can confirm what we thought or what we were told, though perhaps on some occasions our perspective changes.
The new things we learn become part of that book, adding new pieces to the story – whether it’s an old family history or our own. But I’m glad to say that all these new insights haven’t changed certain things I already knew; rather, they’ve helped me to better understand many attitudes. Meeting new people, learning their stories and observing their characters has, fortunately, not altered my own story; as I say, I can make sense of moments when I didn’t even exist and bring certain cycles to a close.

Process in pictures - Proceso en imágenes
Design process
The design was created entirely in Photoshop CS6 without the use of AI, using 14 copyright-free images spread across 16 layers.
On a white layer I placed an image of some writing and, on top of that, a section of the open book, which I duplicated to complete the other side of the book, as I didn’t like the original, I wanted it wide open so that I could then add the images that were to follow. Now, still working on the book and erasing the excess parts from each of the images I’d placed on top, I added an image of old photographs, which spanned both pages using focal light blending.
On top of these, I arranged four images in different positions and scales, cropping parts of them as needed; these depicted flowers and watercolours, two on each page and in normal mode. Using the darker colour blend, I placed half of the image of the text with butterflies on each page. Then, using the same blend, I added the image of the cemetery, evoking those who are no longer with us and their memories, and the image of a woman, symbolising myself.
Finally, I placed the remaining images using the aforementioned blend in various parts of the design, intermingling them with the rest.
I send you all a big hello and see you next time. Thanks for watching and reading this far.
