There is no better gift for a mother or father, or even a sibling, aunt or uncle, or grandparent, than to remember the favourite singers of one of these people. That singer whom our family member listens to, or used to listen to, non stop, and whose songs they knew by heart.
No hay mejor regalo para una madre o un padre, incluso un hermano o tíos, abuelos, que recordar a los cantantes favoritos de alguna de estas personas. Ese cantante que nuestro familiar escucha o escuchaba sin parar y del cual se sabía todas las canciones.

Hay artistas, cantantes que llegan a nuestro corazón más que otros y que por ejemplo han impactado en la vida de nuestros padres. Incluso muchos de esos cantantes pueden repetirse, el cantante favorito de mi madre, puede ser el de otra madre dentro de aquí en Hive. No importa si las reseñas o los tributos se repiten en cuanto al artista, porque lo que importa y siempre lo digo son las experiencias, y esas son únicas e irrepetibles.
Y siguiendo esta temática del mes de octubre les traigo al segundo artista favorito de mi madre. En este caso se trata de un artista muy famoso en el mundo, que ha hecho giras internacionales y sus canciones trascienden los tiempos hasta hoy. Su fama es muy grande y a veces pienso que increíble, ahora vivo en la tierra donde nació, España y más específicamente Andalucía.
Como les contaba en el otro post mi madre siempre fue fan de la música en español y aunque en su época de juventud estaban de moda muchas bandas muy conocidas, pero en idioma inglés, ella era muy fan de muchos cantantes pero que cantaban en su lengua materna, el español.
There are artists and singers who touch our hearts more than others and who, for example, have had a profound impact on our parents’ lives. In fact, many of these singers may be the same, my mum’s favourite singer might well be the same as another mum’s here on Hive. It doesn’t matter if the reviews or tributes to a particular artist are repeated, because what matters, and I always say this, are the experiences, and those are unique and unrepeatable.
And continuing with this theme for October, I’d like to introduce you to my mum’s second favourite artist. In this case, it’s a world-famous artist who has toured internationally and whose songs have stood the test of time right up to the present day. He’s hugely famous, and sometimes I find it quite incredible, and I now live in the land where he was born: Spain, and more specifically, Andalusia.
As I mentioned in my previous post, my mum has always been a fan of music in Spanish. Although many well-known bands were popular during her youth, albeit singing in English, she was a huge fan of numerous singers who performed in her mother tongue: Spanish.

El segundo artista favorito de mi madre es Raphael y al día de hoy aún lo es. En muchas ocasiones me habla de él, sobre todo en admiración hacia su personalidad, su manera de conducir su carrera artística, el amor a su familia y los altos valores que tiene. A mi madre le gusta mucho saber de la vida de los artistas que considera favoritos y a lo largo de la vida me ha comentado muchas cosas.
Ella destaca de Raphael que siempre que viajaba para hacer presentaciones internacionales viajaba con su familia, la incluía en esta parte de su vida, no como la mayoría de los artistas que viajan solos con su equipo. Él une su carrera con la familia y eso no es fácil de lograr.
También me ha comentado muchas veces sobre rumores sobre Raphael, por la forma de bailar, moverse, sus modales, rumores que hasta podían perjudicar su relación con su familia, pero esto nunca fue alterado, y eso habla de esa unión y confianza familiar y de que siempre se hablará cosas o se inventaran mentiras respecto a los artistas.
My mother’s second favourite artist is Raphael, and he still is to this day. She often talks to me about him, particularly expressing her admiration for his personality, the way he manages his artistic career, his love for his family and the high standards he upholds. My mother really enjoys learning about the lives of the artists she considers her favourites, and over the years she has told me many things.
She points out that whenever Raphael travelled for international performances, he took his family with him, including them in this part of his life, unlike most artists who travel alone with their team. He combines his career with family life, and that’s not easy to achieve.
She has also told me many times about rumours concerning Raphael, about the way he dances, moves and carries himself, rumours that could even have damaged his relationship with his family. Yet this never affected them, and that speaks volumes about their family bond and trust, and about the fact that people will always talk or make up lies about artists.

Por supuesto que la lista de videos y canciones que les traigo hoy las ha elegido específicamente mi madre, le pedí que ella sea la que elija esas canciones que escuchaba desde los inicios de la carrera de Raphael, pero creo que la canción más famosa es la que aparece en el primer video: Escándalo.
Ella recuerda que al igual que con Sandro, tenía todos sus discos cuando era joven, más o menos tendría 15 años cuando se hizo fan de Raphael y su padre le compraba todos esos discos. Luego con las tapas de los mismos creo un gran álbum que atesoró mucho.
Conozco muchas de las otras canciones que ella eligió, aunque no tanto como el artista que traje la vez anterior, pero igualmente son canciones hermosas. Me gustan mucho las letras, Raphael es un romántico y tiene una voz increíble. Mi madre destaca la manera de moverse y hasta de hablar propia de los andaluces y que ahora puede comprobar viviendo ella en la comunidad de Andalucía.
Of course, the list of videos and songs I’m sharing with you today has been specifically chosen by my mum. I asked her to pick the songs she’d been listening to right from the start of Raphael’s career, but I think the most famous song is the one featured in the first video: ‘Escándalo’.
She recalls that, just as with Sandro, she had all his albums when she was young; she must have been about 15 when she became a fan of Raphael, and her father used to buy her all those albums. She then used the album covers to create a wonderful album which she treasured dearly.
I’m familiar with many of the other songs she chose, though not as much as with the artist I featured last time, but they’re still beautiful songs. I really like the lyrics; Raphael is a romantic and has an incredible voice. My mother highlights the way he moves and even speaks, which is typical of Andalusians, and which she can now see for herself as she lives in the region of Andalusia.

Estoy segura que la mejor experiencia que puedo contarles y que ella ha vivido intensamente es haber presenciado un espectáculo de Raphael hace muy poco tiempo, aquí en la ciudad donde vive ahora. Fue una sorpresa muy grande que mi hermano y yo le compráramos la entrada para presenciarlo y estaba muy entusiasmada. Fue una noche espectacular y recuerdo cuando la acompañe hasta la puerta de entrada.
Me alegra mucho que ella pudiera ver en vivo y en directo a sus dos artistas favoritos, no todo el mundo puede hacerlo y son vivencias maravillosas que llenan el alma y nunca se olvidan, experiencias que se viven en el corazón. Sé que estar ahí en ese lugar y verlo en persona a esta edad para ella es algo invaluable. Soy feliz por ello.
I’m sure the best experience I can tell you about, and one she has enjoyed to the full, is having attended a Raphael concert very recently, here in the city where she now lives. It was a huge surprise when my brother and I bought her a ticket to see him, and she was absolutely thrilled. It was a spectacular evening, and I remember walking her to the entrance.
I’m so glad she was able to see her two favourite artists live and in person; not everyone gets the chance to do so, and these are wonderful experiences that fill the soul and are never forgotten, experiences that live on in the heart. I know that being there and seeing him in person at her age is something priceless for her. I’m happy for her.
