MONOMAD CHALLENGE: The Art of Returning to Myself - Between Endless Questions and Real Life

How much do the existential questions that lead us to wonder where we come from and where we’re going weigh on each of us?

I’ve always felt a certain fascination for those people who rarely question themselves and simply live day to day. I think it’s an infinitely simpler way of living, one that invites us to enjoy the present without overthinking it. At the same time, I admit that I’m passionate about questioning everything: devouring theories, listening to hypotheses, and marveling at possibilities about which I’ll never have any certainty.

In 2026, I chose to take a break from the internet. I decided to go back to living in the real world while watching my peers share their daily routines on social media. At first, it wasn’t a planned decision; rather, my own circumstances made it difficult for me to stay connected. But over time, I realized that life was setting the perfect stage for me to return “to myself”: to live my days without the need to share anything, without giving explanations, and without seeking validation from a virtual world that either approves or condemns.

And it was a beautiful experience. I traveled through Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, India, Italy, and Spain from a place of authenticity, sharing fleeting moments almost at random, just for the pleasure of it and without paying attention to metrics or statistics.

The peace of rediscovering myself in silence

These photos are from a couple of months ago. I took them one afternoon when the room in Son Bou was empty; it was my first moment alone in a very long time. I felt like I was losing touch with my own center, and those hours of silence—while my friends were out partying—brought me back to myself, reminding me that I was still there, steadfast amid the external noise.

I took these selfies to challenge that rigid idea that personal photos only feed the ego. I prefer to embrace the theory that they’re also an act of healthy self-love: looking in the mirror, recognizing yourself, and giving yourself a smile. And today I’m sharing them with my Hive community.
