If ever the Ladies of Hive community organize a lavish Masquerade meetup, what historical figure, accomplished author/artist, or fictional character will you dress as to attend this imaginary event, and why?
Si alguna vez la comunidad de Ladies of Hive organiza una lujosa reunión de Mascarada, ¿de qué figura histórica, autor/artista consumado o personaje ficticio te vestirás para este evento imaginario y por qué?
Without a doubt, I’d choose Elizabeth Bennet, the protagonist of Jane Austen’s *Pride and Prejudice*. It’s quite easy to explain why: Elizabeth is a character I really identify with because we think quite similarly – although, of course, she’s much more outgoing than I am, hehe – but she’s quite ahead of her time and, what’s more (something I love), however much she loves and fancies Mr Darcy, she doesn’t lose her head; if she feels offended, she says so and stands up for herself – she doesn’t hold back.
Sin lugar a dudas yo elegiría a Elizabeth Bennet, la protagonista de Orgullo y Prejuicio de Jane Austin, el por qué es bastante fácil de responder, Elizabeth es un personaje con el que me siento muy identificada debido a que pensamos bastante parecido, claro que, ella es mucho más extrovertida que yo jeje, pero ella es bastante adelantada para su época y además (algo que me encanta) por más amor y gusto que tenga por el señor Darcy, no pierde el norte, si ella se siente ofendida lo dice y se defiende, no tiene filtros
Right from the start, she comes across as very intelligent and determined; she doesn’t let herself be intimidated by Darcy or his family, and although she knows her mother is a bit of a character, she still defends and loves her. I think the moment I felt most proud of her was during Mr Darcy’s first confession, which was rather snobbish: ‘I have fought against my own judgement, my family, the social rank to which I belong, and even the inferiority of your background’ Elizaeth, knowing that her sister’s break-up with her boyfriend was down to Darcy, and upon hearing that confession and such an absurd marriage proposal, flatly rejects him in no uncertain terms
Desde un inicio ella se muestra muy inteligente y decidida, no se deja amedrentar por Darcy o su familia y aunque sabe que tiene una madre cuestionable, aun así la defiende y ama, creo que el momento en el que me sentí más orgullosa de ella fue durante la primera confesión del señor Darcy la cual fue bastante snob “He combatido mi propio criterio, a mi familia, el rango social al que pertenezco e incluso la inferioridad de su origen” Elizaeth sabiendo que la separación de su hermana y su novio fue por causa de Darcy y oyendo esa confesión y propuesta de matrimonio tan absurda lo rechaza tajantemente de la forma concreta
I feel that Elizabeth embodies true feminism – a woman who has her own opinions and thinks for herself, yet is still able to love and start a family by her own choice, rather than because it is forced upon her – so I feel she is a good representation of the sort of women I’d love to take to the masked ball.
Siento que Elizabeth representa el verdadero feminismo, una mujer que opina que piensa por ella misma pero que aun así puede amar y conformar una familia por elección de ella y no porque se le impone, así que siento que es una buena representación de las mujeres que me encantaría llevar al baile de mascaras
