Hoy les vengo a compartir un lugar de mi ciudad, sumamente pintoresco y sobretodo lleno de naturaleza, pues está ubicado en una de las laderas de nuestra popular montaña Ávila, también conocida como Waraira Repano; y no es otro lugar que el poblado conocido como Galipán, el cual tuvo su origen por los inmigrantes provenientes de las Islas Canarias. Estos se asentaron en esta parte de la montaña, estableciendo una forma de vida bastante campestre, dedicados a la agricultura en su gran mayoría, convirtiéndose en uno de los principales proveedores de los caraqueños en lo referente a las flores, verduras, incluyendo entre sus siembras árboles y flores autóctonos de otros países, así que en este lugar podemos ver una gran variedad, llenando de color este hermoso pueblo.

Para llegar hasta este pueblo es necesario subir en carros rústicos o los llamados 4x4, jeeps en su mayoría, pues estos se ajustan perfectamente a las empinadas subidas y curvas de la montaña, también tienes la opción de subir al teleférico y desde allí tomar un transporte hasta el pueblo de Galipán; pero lo que es bien cierto es que desde que empiezas el trayecto hacia este pintoresco pueblo, todo empieza a cambiar, porque te ves rodeado de árboles, flores y plantas de todo tipo, aparte de que el clima, a medida que vas subiendo, se va volviendo más frío. Durante el trayecto, si vas terrestre, tienes diferentes paradas, donde puedes disfrutar de chocolate caliente, café, dulces originarios del lugar, y magníficos miradores desde donde puedes tomar las más bellas fotografías.

Esta fue una de las cosas que más me gustó de este paseo hacia la naturaleza, aparte de que fuimos toda la familia, con motivo del cumpleaños de mi hija mayor. Al llegar al pueblo, puedes ver diferentes restaurantes y locales de todo tipo para compartir con amigos y familia. Nosotros compartimos un rico almuerzo típico de la zona compuesto por sándwich de pernil, cachapas y un rico vino artesanal, finalizado con un rico postre, compuesto por fresas con crema. Luego de nuestra rica comida, nos dedicamos a caminar y a curiosear por las calles del pueblo, donde pudimos observar muchas flores y hermosos árboles por donde se paseaban personas en caballos, cuatrimotos y hasta un tren que daba rondines por el lugar.

Pero lo que me tenía a mí extasiada era la vista que se tiene desde esa altura de mi ciudad y del estado La Guaira. Era inevitable no pararse a capturar esas bellas imágenes, tantas maravillas naturales al alcance de la mano, junto a mi bella ciudad; era para quedarse admirando la creación de Dios. Allí todo se conjuga maravillosamente: naturaleza, civilización y vida campestre, tanto así que este es uno de los lugares top de mi ciudad si quieres hacer turismo de altura; es uno de esos sitios en los que puedes compartir y crear momentos inolvidables, como nosotros como familia.

Personalmente, me dediqué a admirar las diferentes flores que allí tenían para incluso tomar hermosas fotos: en especial un lugar donde había puros girasoles y, por supuesto, no perdimos la oportunidad de inmortalizarnos junto a ellos en nuestras fotografías. También había unos miradores que quitaban el aliento; nada desentonaba, porque incluso las casas tipo cabañas quitaban el aliento. Como fuimos fin de semana, había muchas personas que, al igual que nosotros, estaban haciendo una pausa natural de la ciudad y, aunque tengo mi vida en la ciudad, hasta este extremo del Ávila no había subido o visitado, así es que esta fue mi primera vez en este bello pueblo, llamado Galipán. Today I’d like to share with you a place in my city that’s incredibly picturesque and, above all, surrounded by nature, since it’s located on one of the slopes of our famous Ávila Mountain, also known as Waraira Repano; and it’s none other than the village known as Galipán, which was founded by immigrants from the Canary Islands. They settled in this part of the mountain, establishing a rather rural way of life, with most of them dedicated to agriculture. They became one of the main suppliers of flowers and vegetables to the people of Caracas, including in their crops trees and flowers native to other countries, so here we can see a wide variety, filling this beautiful village with color.

To reach this village, you’ll need to take rustic vehicles—or so-called 4x4s, mostly jeeps—since these are perfectly suited to the steep climbs and curves of the mountain. You also have the option of taking the cable car and then catching a shuttle from there to the village of Galipán; but one thing is certain: as soon as you begin the journey to this picturesque village, everything starts to change, because you find yourself surrounded by trees, flowers, and plants of all kinds—and as you climb higher, the weather grows colder. Along the way, if you’re traveling by land, there are several stops where you can enjoy hot chocolate, coffee, local sweets, and magnificent viewpoints from which to take the most beautiful photos.

This was one of the things I liked most about this nature excursion, especially since we went as a whole family to celebrate my oldest daughter’s birthday. When you arrive in the town, you’ll find a variety of restaurants and establishments of all kinds where you can spend time with friends and family. We shared a delicious, traditional local lunch consisting of a ham sandwich, cachapas, and a delicious artisanal wine, followed by a delicious dessert of strawberries and cream. After our delicious meal, we went for a walk and strolled through the town’s streets, where we saw many flowers and beautiful trees, with people riding horses, ATVs, and even a train making its rounds through the area.

But what truly left me in awe was the view from that vantage point of my city and the state of La Guaira. It was impossible not to stop and capture those beautiful images—so many natural wonders right at our fingertips, alongside my beautiful city; it was a sight that made you want to stand there in awe of God’s creation. Everything comes together wonderfully there: nature, civilization, and country life—so much so that this is one of the top spots in my city if you’re looking for high-altitude sightseeing; it’s one of those places where you can share and create unforgettable moments, just like we did as a family.

Personally, I spent my time admiring the different flowers there and even taking beautiful photos—especially at a spot where there were nothing but sunflowers, and, of course, we didn’t miss the chance to capture ourselves next to them in our pictures. There were also some breathtaking viewpoints; nothing seemed out of place, because even the cabin-style houses were breathtaking. Since we went on the weekend, there were many people who, like us, were taking a break from the city, and although I live in the city, I had never gone up to or visited this part of the Ávila Mountains before, so this was my first time in this beautiful town called Galipán.
