π Gossip Girl β S1E3: Poison Ivy | Everyone Has Something to Hide
Three episodes in, and I'm starting to see that Gossip Girl works best when it mixes all the Upper East Side drama with the characters' more vulnerable sides.
In βPoison Ivy,β Blair discovers something very personal about Serena and, of course, their fragile friendship is tested once again. What I liked is that the secret isn't just another piece of gossip. It reveals a much more complicated side of Serena's family and gives her character more depth.

Meanwhile, Dan trying to impress the Dartmouth representative was a nice contrast. He has the ambition and talent, but he doesn't have the connections or privileges that seem completely normal to Nate and the others. That difference between their worlds is becoming one of my favorite parts of the series.

The Ivy League event brings everyone together perfectly, and naturally, secrets don't stay secret for very long in this group.

I also feel like Serena and Blair are becoming the real heart of the show. They can hurt each other terribly, but there are moments when you can still see why they were best friends in the first place.
β My Rating: 88/100
My favorite episode so far. It has the usual drama, but there is more emotion underneath it, especially in the Serena and Blair storyline.
