Today I bring you one of the saddest and most melancholic songs from the second phase of their discography. It evokes sadness in me, but not in a depressive way. It's more the kind of sadness you feel when you want something you don't know if it exists or if it will ever arrive. It's a feeling of longing, and I think we've all felt it at some point.

In the song, McCartney masterfully focuses on the theme of loneliness, divine loneliness, a companion that always accompanies me. I think that because it's a universal theme, it touches us deeply, just like those passionate songs of love or torrid romances that have affected us all in one way or another.

The song was recorded for the sessions of the legendary album "Revolver" in August 1966 at EMI Studios in London, under the superb production of George Martin, who lent part of his orchestra to the musical arrangement. Thus, in this unforgettable piece, we can hear four violins, a viola, and two cellos, a delight for us fans of this unforgettable band. And of course, John couldn't be missing on backing vocals, with Paul and George also lending their harmonious voices to the chorus.

There are many theories and conjectures about the origins of Eleanor Rigby. What is certain is that in Liverpool there is a grave of a woman named Eleanor Rigby, and many believe that McCartney was inspired by this illustrious 19th-century woman to compose his song. I presume that since Paul always saw the solitary grave as a child, he composed this musical gem for her. In fact, the song begins with "look at all those lonely people."

The song was also part of the soundtrack for the 1968 animated film "Yellow Submarine." It appears at the beginning of the film, and the video I'm sharing today is taken from that movie, exactly as it appears. According to some of the dialogue in the film, Eleanor Rigby is described as a persevering, strong-willed person and a role model for society—qualities of a just and good woman.
