The moral conflict regarding the past of the Holo-creatures - FanLore

Whenever we talk about Holozing, it is easy to focus on the future, the creatures we might discover and the adventures that could await us. But I think the past deserves just as much attention. After all, if we want to understand the world these characters inhabit, we need to ask ourselves what it looked like before everything changed.

What if the disappearance of the original creatures was not a sudden catastrophe, but the result of decisions that humanity made over many generations?

I like imagining a time when humans and creatures lived together naturally. They were not holograms, collectibles or digital representations. They were living beings with their own territories, instincts and relationships with the environment. Some might have helped human communities survive, while others remained mysterious and dangerous, inhabiting places that people barely understood.

Perhaps the elemental islands were once connected to a much larger ecosystem. Each region could have developed its own culture around the creatures living there, with traditions, scientific knowledge and even conflicts shaped by the elemental forces surrounding them.

Maybe humanity discovered a way to extract energy from creatures or reproduce their abilities through technology. Initially, this invention might have been celebrated as a breakthrough. Imagine being able to preserve a creature's genetic information, recreate its powers and share its abilities with people who had never encountered one in the wild.

It sounds incredible, doesn't it? But technological progress often creates problems that its inventors never anticipated.

Perhaps the first experiments were intended to protect endangered species. Researchers could have developed special containers or genetic storage systems to preserve their biological information.

Over time, however, these discoveries might have become the foundation of an entirely different system, one that valued the information contained within a creature more than the creature itself.

This is where I think Holozing could explore an interesting moral conflict.

Were the scientists trying to save the world, or did they gradually convince themselves that controlling nature was the only way to protect humanity?

I would love to see fragments of this forgotten era scattered throughout the game. Abandoned laboratories, ancient settlements and damaged research records could reveal different versions of the same historical event. Some documents might describe a disaster, while others suggest that the creatures were deliberately removed from their natural habitats.

The most interesting part would be discovering that none of these records tells the entire story.

Perhaps a scientist who participated in the original experiments realized too late that something had gone wrong. Maybe this person tried to stop the project, leaving behind clues for someone in the future to discover. Such a character could connect the ancient history of Holozing with the protagonist's present-day investigation.

Of course, these are only possibilities for the game's fan-lore, not confirmed elements of its story. Still, I believe that exploring the past could give the universe much more emotional weight.

The creatures would no longer be simply mysterious beings waiting to be discovered. They would become survivors of a forgotten relationship between humanity and nature.
