Out of the Hole

Finally out of my slump. Digging out took a bit, but I did it. Luckily there was support from the wifey. Also had resources like the counselor at the VA. Then there's the fact I've gotten pretty good at working through these times on my own as well.

Appreciate all the advice and support from others here on Hive as well. It meant a great deal. And for those still struggling, I have you in my thoughts. I know you can get yourself balanced. Keep plugging. Don't give up.

Anyway, it is hot as all hell here again. In fact it's the hottest it has been all summer. You would think it'd be cooling off by now. But nope. So not much work going on right now outside. Good thing is, most of the shed work is done. Most of the garage work is done. Just have to straighten up some shelves and sort through some containers. Almost there.

Big load off my shoulders yesterday. Finally had my Will and Power of Attorney notarized and finalized. Worked it up months ago. But just let it sit and put off getting it notarized. My health ain't getting better. So I finally forced myself to get it done yesterday. Felt like a big relief. Just fortunate nothing happened before then. One of those things you don't want to think about. Don't want to deal with. But you have to. For the people you're leaving behind. So they're not stuck trying to figure things out while grieving. Done now. Checked off the list.

Well, not sure what's planned for the rest of the day except wait for the gas company people to show up. Seems we have an issue with our gas bill being substantially more than usual. Like 10 times more than normal. They're supposed to come and check out the meter and stuff. Of course they can't give a time. Just be here sometime today. So here I sit. Waiting.

So happy to read that you are coming out of that long slump. I felt for you, as I know how hard it is to pull oneself out of one. Glad you made progress on the garage and shed. I still have yet to get to mine. But it's nice to see you got your will in order; it will make things easier for the family. Be well!

It's good to know you're feeling better, even if the gas bill and the weather aren't helping. I made my will a while ago, and whenever I can, I tell people what each person is getting. When my father died, he thought he'd settled everything, but in the end, it was a whole ordeal with the insurance, so much so that I think if my father had known what we'd be going through, he wouldn't have left us so soon. I hope everything continues to get better. Best wishes, my friend.

Really happy to read that! I hope it stays that way for a long time for you.

No news here. Trying to find new routines that work better with my new work schedule. Kind of successful with that. Besides that, nothing new. Not really working on getting out of the hole. Kind of comfortably numb. Or comfortably miserable. I hope I can find the strength for that, soon.

I'm with you on the heat thing, it's totally ridiculous. We were downstate yesterday and it was 100. We only had a few days in the middle of summer that were that hot. Here we are almost into fall and we are hitting that mark. The will thing is definitely not something you want to think about, but nice to have in place. I'm glad we finally got around and did our trust a year or two ago. I'm also glad to hear you are doing better!

I’m so glad you’ve come forward!! The will is something you really need to sort out; I always think you should get your papers in order as soon as you can. Well done on that, and… as for waiting for those people… paying ten times as much for gas… no way!!🤗

You'd think the digging would get easier with practice. I do a lot less since I quit drinking but it still hasn't gotten easy.

You're not enjoying this lovely weather? Me either. Knew there'd be hell to pay for getting downright tolerable weather for the state fair.

Hell, you'd think they would want to know why someone was suddenly using 10x the gas. I feel ya though, we had the bright idea to get our kitchen remodeled and all the hurry up and wait has been much.

We had ours done a few years ago. Last night I said to my husband that we have to make up a packet with instructions, and put it where the kids can find it. There's no point in having it all laid out if they can't find it:))

I'm very happy the cloud is lifting for you. It seems you know how to use the resources at hand, and that includes most especially a very good wife.

Glad to hear you're doing better!

I'm honestly looking forward to being done with yardwork for a bit. I had to get a new electric mower. I should be excited, but it's $500 I really didn't want to shell out. Oh well.

Next on the list is re-painting the master bathroom, which will get done this week. Hopefully there aren't any more major projects my wife comes up with for winter. 😆
