I continue to play and enjoy the Sorare 'Play2Earn' Fantasy Football game! This is an update on how the new season is going for far and how my Super Rare Team is getting more competitive...
Season 2026-2027 So Far!
Basically similar to Splinterlands, I stay away from the current in-game gameplay as I don't like the mechanics how you basically need to try and out-earn the rapid card devaluation. Instead, I just play the classic mode with the cards that I own and try to take profit on the in-season cards that I'm winning especially if it are ones with some good value.
I had a couple good scoring line-ups and managed to win a fair bit of limited cards of which these were the more valuable ones.
-|-|-I sold Bazan & Dolberg for for 0.0016 ETH each and Kee-Hee for just 0.0002 ETH. I also started to sell some limited older players that I don't need and have a bit of value.
I also won some other players that right now can't really be sold easily at a decent price as in Sorare pretty much all the value flows to a handful of players who are sure high scorers.
I'm waiting though in the hope one or more at some time starts getting hot. i'm also not playing the Pay2Win game were you can just spend a ton of money on expensive players and get some prizes each week at the risk (which is sure to happen at some point) of the players dropping a lot in value.
I also had a good week now expecting to win close to 6000 Glints, and I should be able to mint 5 new Limited players which is quite some fun.
Season 2026-2027 Super Rare Team!
With the fact that there are simply too many cards and not enough players to keep their value up, Limited classic is more or less the Free2Play game as very little money is needed to get going, rare has become the new limited where it's actually harder to win something, and Ultra-Rare has become the new rare where it feels that your cards are still worth something and a good week potentially could win a jackpot prize.
Sorare has felt more like a lottery where you fill in a bunch of tickets (lineups) and afterward you see if you won something. It is way more fun to just have 1 or 2 lineups where you know you can win something that is worth it. That makes you more invested in the players that you own and the matches that you watch. Just for that reason as it has become also really affordable (aside from the goalkeeper), I'm slowly but surely am building a stronger Super Rare team all with very affordable players.
Goalkeepers
The strategy to pick up goalkeepers who did not play but had a decent chance to become 1st choice at some point worked as Delanghe got a transfer (Loan) to Eredivisie team Willem 2 where he replaces the injured goalkeeper. Unfortunately it's a relegation team and it's near impossible for him to keep a clean sheet. Still, his market value has gone up since I bought and I now have a goalkeeper that at least scores points each match. Lendfers (Boight for 21.5€ as I had a 50% discount) is still on the bench in Stvv.
Defenders
I added Patris to my collection for just 10.33€ as he now is a starting player for Union and doing quite well. Both Lambert & Hata are quite weak but Foulom is back from injury and should be able to score good points again, while Reynolds is starting to play and also do well in his new team. So at this point potentually 2-3 solid players I can field in the defense.
Midfielders
I own 7 of them now for basically 3 spots in my team. I was quite happy to be able to pick up Magnéé for under 11€ as he is a players with the potential and a history of 100 scores since he's very present in the team taking the corners and in the past also the penalties and he's a sure starter. A couple of days ago I also bough Heymans who deserved a spot in the 1st team as he often scores as a midfieler and is good at taking penalties. With Genk not that great while he was on the bench, I expect him to get a spot again which was the case this weekend. These 2 are pretty much locks for me at the moment. Verschaeren in the 2nd Division in Italy also has some potential, while Balikwisha and Kana are weaker options. Hong seems to have made a transfer to Midtjylland and seems to get to play again while I'm no longer counting on Sattlberger but he's still young so maybe if he goes to another team he will be better.
Forwards
The position of my forward has been quite the struggle as I mainly picked young players in the hope that they become solid scorers. Vandeplas was transferred and no longer plays in a league that is supported but he is still very young. Degreef I bought just before he started to be a starter in the team but he has been sidelined by the new coach and no longer is in the picture at the moment. Kouassi is getting more and more playtime in Cercle but still has a ling way to go. <bVerlinden has been injured for some time., Antonio is back from injury but Mechelen is horrible and he mostly us used as a substitute player and also haven't fully lived up to his potential. So since I didn't have any reliable player, today I bough Michel-ange Balikwisha who has the potential to be a systematic high scorer as he was in Antwerp some years ago and where he was valued very highly on the Sorare market. He also plays European Football so that's a nice plus. He will from here on out be my main starter.
Full Super Rare Team
So this is basically my best team right now and my aim is to over the course of the season collect 1000 Super Rare Essence and hopefully get lucky on crafting a solid valuable player. I know though that this is far fetched and not worth it as chance is I high that I will never reach the 1000 mark and if I do it will be around the end of the season when most players lost a lot of value already. So the main hope is to have 1 really lucky week and actually win a bigger super rare jackpot prize which is always possible.
Currently after 7 weeks, I'm only at 50 Super Rare Esscence so 950 left to go. The fact that Sorare has missions in the weekend daily where you can submit 3 players who are each able to win some essence really does help and makes it possible.
Conclusion
I have long given up on seeing Sorare as a game where you can make a profit but I'm glad to continue to just playing it as a fun game where there is a small chance of hitting a jackpot which would make it all profitable. My Super Rare Team is getting more and more Shape to actually have a small chance to be competitive and I look forward to playing the rest of the season and also the coming seasons...
