El día de hoy quiero mostrarles mediante imágenes el proceso de elaboración de una hermosa maceta 🪴 con motivo de gato. Este proyecto surgió a petición de mi sobrina, ella compró un nuevo escritorio y me pidió que le tejiera una maceta similar a una que elaboró con AI.

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I'm feeling a bit sore—I took a fall and have aches all over. Today I want to show you, through pictures, the process of making a beautiful cat-themed plant pot 🪴. This project came about at my niece's request; she bought a new desk and asked me to crochet her a plant pot similar to one she made using AI.

Cuando me hacen un pedido lo primero que hago antes de dar respuesta es ir a revisar si tengo los colores de hilos que llevaría el proyecto, esta vez los tenía todos. Le expliqué a mi sobrina que como no soy diseñadora ni experta en creaciones tejidas le podía hacer algo similar al diseño, pero no idéntico. Ella me dijo que confiaba en que lo haría lo mejor posible y eso me animó, me indicó más o menos las medidas que quería y luego empecé a diseñar.

When I receive an order, the first thing I do before responding is check to see if I have the yarn colors needed for the project; this time, I had them all. I explained to my niece that since I’m not a designer or an expert in knitted creations, I could make something similar to the design, but not identical. She told me she trusted me to do my best, and that encouraged me. She gave me a rough idea of the measurements she wanted, and then I started designing.

Traté de hacer todas las partes sin buscar patrón, creé el diseño desde cero tejiendo a como iba pensando me quedaría bien. Por ahí tengo los apuntes 🤔 creo. Como ando con el tiempo muy limitado empecé por hacer los más sencillos y rápido: las flores. Necesité los hilos, pegamento y alambre. Sencillas y muy bonitas las flores. Realicé cinco en total.

I tried to make all the pieces without using a pattern; I created the design from scratch, crocheting as I went along based on how I thought it would look. I think I have my notes somewhere 🤔. Since I’m short on time, I started with the simplest and quickest ones: the flowers. I needed yarn, glue, and wire. The flowers are simple and very pretty. I made five in total.

La maceta me costó un poco porque mi sobrina la quería de 11 cm máximo, así que fui tejiendo y midiendo. También tenía que pensar que luego fuera sencillo tejer la cabeza de gato 😺 proporcional al tamaño de la maceta.

The flowerpot took me a while because my niece wanted it to be no more than 11 cm, so I had to keep crocheting and measuring as I went. I also had to make sure that the cat’s head would be easy to crochet 😺 and proportional to the size of the flowerpot.

Para hacer la cabeza del gato necesité revisar algunos de los amigurumis que ya tengo hechos, me fijé en el número de vueltas y en la distancia para ponerle las orejas. A mitad de labor este color de hilo se me terminó y tuve que esperar a que mi hijo menos pudiera ir a la tienda por otro ovillo. Ya saben que yo no dejo a Ale solo todavía.

To make the cat’s head, I had to look at some of the amigurumi I’ve already made; I checked the number of rounds and the placement of the ears. Halfway through the project, I ran out of this color of yarn and had to wait for my younger son to go to the store to get another skein. As you know, I don’t let Ale go out alone yet.

Tejí todo el proyecto con hilos pabilos y una aguja de 2,25mm. Usé algodón sintético para rellenar. Para que la maceta quedara pesada le coloqué adentro en la base una moneda de 5 bs, aquí en Venezuela las llamábamos Fuerte, ya no están en circulación desde hace muchos años.

I crocheted the entire project using thin yarn and a 2.25mm hook. I used synthetic cotton for the stuffing. To make the planter heavy, I placed a 5-bolivar coin inside the base; here in Venezuela, we used to call them “Fuerte,” but they haven’t been in circulation for many years.

¡Qué bueno que tengo narices! Me encanta usar de estas cositas porque realzan el rostro de los amigurumis. Bordé los ojos y el bigote y de esta manera ya la cara del gato estaba terminada. Faltaban ahora las patas y la cola.

I'm so glad I have a nose! I love using these little things because they really bring out the amigurumi's face. I embroidered the eyes and the mustache, and with that, the cat's face was finished. Now all that was left were the paws and the tail.

Me encantó hacer este proyecto. A mi sobrina le gustó mucho el resultado. Espero hacer otros pronto para tenerlos disponibles para la venta. Las patas y la cola fue lo último que teji. Cabe destacar que todo lo teji en punto bajo x falso, ya mi mano no me duele tanto al hacer este tipo de punto. Muchas gracias por leer.

I loved working on this project. My niece really liked how it turned out. I hope to make some more soon so I can have them available for sale. The legs and tail were the last parts I crocheted. It’s worth noting that I crocheted everything using the single crochet x half double crochet stitch, since my hand doesn’t hurt as much when I use this stitch. Thank you so much for reading.
