Before I start sharing about my food experience, I just want to say how delighted I am that some of my short-form posts have been getting attention from other users lately.
I do a bunch of short posts on Snaps and Waves, and recently I've noticed that some of them are getting really good feedback. It makes me realize how much impact short-form blogging platforms can have when it comes to the social side of Hive.
And the funny thing is that my more controversial or funny posts seem to get more attention compared to my usual posts LOL.
A good example was when I shared my thoughts about the fried fish dish I had last Saturday that somehow looked like a lizard. 😂 I guess that strange comparison made other users curious enough to leave comments. Sometimes the most random things are the ones that start a conversation!
Anyway, I think that's enough of an intro for today. Since I already talk about food quite a lot, why not continue with my dining experience from yesterday night?

Yesterday, I went cycling around the Chinese Garden area. After spending around two hours cycling and wandering around the garden, I became really hungry. I'm pretty sure all that cycling burned plenty of calories because my appetite was through the roof by the time I started looking for dinner.

I ended up ordering from a Thai-style hawker stall called Kin Yang. To be honest, I wasn't really planning to have Thai food that night. However, many of the other stalls were already closed, so I thought I might as well give this one a try.
There were plenty of interesting dishes on the menu, but one of my favorite Thai dishes caught my attention immediately: pineapple fried rice!

The dish costs SGD 5.90, but I decided to add a fried egg for another SGD 0.90, bringing my dinner to SGD 6.80.
I think that's still a pretty reasonable price, especially because a fried egg with a beautiful runny yolk can definitely improve almost any fried rice, hehe.

What I really like about pineapple fried rice is the balance of flavors. There is the slight tanginess and sweetness coming from the pineapple, the savory flavor of the chicken, and a little bit of that charred aroma that probably comes from cooking the rice over a hot wok.
Every spoonful had a nice combination of rice, chicken, pineapple, egg, and seasoning.
Another thing that I liked was the generous amount of chicken floss sprinkled on top. The floss has a light sweetness and a fluffy texture that works surprisingly well with the savory fried rice. Once mixed into the rice, it adds another layer of flavor without overpowering everything else.

And of course, there was my fried egg sitting right beside the rice. The yolk was still runny, which is exactly how I like it. Breaking the yolk and mixing some of that creamy goodness into the fried rice made the dish even richer and more satisfying.
I also have to mention the bright yellow color of the rice because it really makes the whole plate look appetizing. I'm hoping that the color comes naturally from the seasonings and ingredients rather than simply from food coloring, though. 😅

Overall, this was a simple but very satisfying dinner after a long cycling session. I wasn't planning to eat Thai food at all, but sometimes these unplanned meals turn out to be the enjoyable ones.
For SGD 6.80, I got a generous plate of flavorful pineapple fried rice, chicken floss, pieces of chicken and pineapple, plus that lovely runny fried egg.
Definitely a nice way to recover some of those calories I burned cycling around Chinese Garden LOL.
Bon appétit!
