Every single episode of every series on Apple TV started with it: the promo for the Matchbox movie. For weeks, I had to deal with this, and honestly, I fell right into the trap. I got completely hyped up for this movie based solely on the ads. It feels like it’s my first time, like I haven't learned yet that sometimes, all the good stuff a story has to offer gets shoved into the trailer just to hook people, because they know the rest of it is absolute trash.

Casa que que comenzaba cualquier episodio, de cualquier serie en Apple Tv, la propaganda del inicio era de la película Matchbox. Durante semana me tocaba con esto y francamente caí en la trampa, me llene de hype por esta película con solo la publicidad. Parece que fuera mi primera vez, que no he aprendido que en ocasiones, todo lo bueno que tiene una historia se muestra en el tráiler, para atrapar potencial público, porque saben que el resto es una basura.
My hype wasn't just fueled by the ads; it was genuinely rooted in my childhood, back when I used to play with these toy cars. I didn't grow up with Hot Wheels, which are currently the most popular brand of toy cars out there. I can't say for sure, but Matchbox was definitely the dominant brand in my country many years ago. They were tough, heavy, had an amazing finish, and were based on real vehicle models instead of the fantasy rides of that other brand.
Mi hype no solo se alimento por la publicidad, realmente se fundamento en mi pasado, cuando de niño jugaba con esta marca de carritos de juguete. Yo no conocí los Hotwheels, que actualmente son la marca más popular de carritos de juguete. No podría afirmarlo, pero Matchbox fue la marca que tuvo más presencia en mi país hace muchos años, eran resistentes, pesados con un gran acabado, basados en modelos de vehículo reales y no de fantasía como los de la otra marca.
Even though the trailer only showed a few action scenes with cars, it wasn't really clear what the plot would be or how it would tie into the brand. Curiosity got the better of me, driven by the action combined with an eye-catching cast featuring John Cena, Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, and Teyonah Parris. It all seemed like the ultimate recipe for a fun, entertaining flick.

Me gano la curiosidad, por la acción sumada a un elenco llamativo de figuras como: John Cena, Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson y Teyonah Parris; todo parecía una mezcla perfecta que funciona bien para ser una película entretenida.
The story kicks off with a group of friends hanging out in an old garage, playing together with Matchbox cars on a miniature city layout. Time skips ahead, and one of them, Sean (John Cena), ends up as a secret agent recovering a nuclear warhead for the CIA. He wraps up the job, gets told to take a few days off, and decides to head back home for the funeral of the old garage owner—the guy from their childhood hangout sessions.
La historia inicia con un grupo de amigos reunidos en los espacios de un viejo taller, jugando juntos con vehículos Matchbox en la maquetas de una ciudad. El tiempo avanza y uno de ellos, Sean (John Cena), termina siendo un agente secreto que está recuperando una ojiva nuclear para la CIA. Termina el trabajo, le dicen que tome unos días y decide volver a su casa, al sepelio del dueño del taller donde se reunía con sus amigos a jugar.
Sean hasn't heard from his childhood friends in years, keeping his distance mostly because he's had a massive crush on Aimee (Jessica Biel) and never had the guts to confess his feelings. After the funeral, they reunite, catch up, and are quickly sucked into a setup where they all have to team up to track down a stolen bomb they've been framed for handing over to a terrorist. They need to clear their names and save some lives.
Por años Sean no ha sabido nada de sus amigos de la infancia, mantuvo distancia porque tiene un crush con Aimee (Jessica Biel) y nunca tuvo el valor para decirle. Luego del sepelio se reúnen, conversan y en poco tiempo se ven envueltos en un engaño, donde todos deben unir fuerzas para recuperar la bomba que se les acusa haber dado a un terrorista, para limpiar su reputación y salvar vidas.
On paper, this plot sounds awesome, but the movie just feels off from start to finish. For starters, the only actual references to Matchbox are right at the beginning and the very end. Plus, it makes zero sense that an invincible badass who fights international terrorists doesn't have the courage to tell a woman he likes her. Cena’s character fights off everyone and carries his friends—who supposedly aren't going to leave him hanging and want to help—though that never actually translates into any real teamwork.
En los papeles esta historia suena genial, pero la película se siente extraña de principio a fin. Para empezar la única referencia a Matchbox es la del inicio y una al final; tambien es inexplicable que un tipo invencible, que lucha contra terrorista, no tiene el valor para decirle a una mujer que le gusta. El personaje de Cena lucha contra todos y acarrea con sus amigos, que supuestamente le no lo van a dejar solo para ayudarle, pero eso no ocurre nunca.
Honestly, I can't think of a single good thing to say about this movie. I totally wasted my time, and they just played with my nostalgia. The cast doesn't click at all, the action-fueled thrill dies out in the first five minutes, and when it finally looks like they’re going to use cars like the ones from their childhood, they just end up looking completely ridiculous. It feels like a lame knockoff of Fast & Furious, so do yourselves a favor and don't waste your time watching it.
La verdad no sé me ocurre algo bueno que decir de esta película, perdí mi tiempo y jugaron con mi nostalgia. El cat no conecta, la emoción con la acción se te acaba en los primeros 5 minutos, y cuando porfin parece que usaran vehículo como los de su niñez, hacen completamente el ridículo. Parece un mal intento de rápido y furioso, así que no pierdan su tiempo en verla.
