Have you ever heard of late tulips? They are very interesting varieties, including, for example, "Late Single," "Double Late," "Viridiflora," "Parrot," etc., that can continue to bloom until late summer.
They are highly prized by gardeners because they can prolong their flowering until most early tulips have finished their cycle.

Avete mai sentito parlare dei tulipani tardivi? Sono delle varietà molto interessanti tra cui, per esempio, “Late Single”, “Double Late”, “Viridiflora”, “Parrot”, …) che possono continuare a fiorire fino a estate inoltrata.
Sono molto apprezzati dai giardinieri perché sono in grado di prolungare la fioritura fino a quando la maggior parte dei tulipani precoci ha già terminato il suo ciclo.
How can you recognize them? They have sturdy, tall stems, often over 50-60 cm, and large, showy flowers that hold up even in strong winds.
Double Late, also known as "peony-like," offer full, petal-rich corollas, almost identical to true peonies. Viridiflora have green streaks on the petals, an elegant and unusual effect. Parrot, with jagged, curled petals, adds a dramatic, almost exotic touch to flowerbeds.
Come si riconoscono? Hanno steli robusti e alti, spesso oltre i 50-60 cm, e fiori grandi e vistosi che reggono anche in presenza di vento forte.
I Double Late, detti anche "peonia-simili", offrono corolle piene e ricche di petali, quasi identiche a vere peonie. I Viridiflora hanno striature verdi sui petali, un effetto elegante e insolito. I Parrot, con petali frastagliati e arricciati, regalano un tocco scenografico e quasi esotico alle aiuole.
I was lucky enough to see these beautiful tulips on a walk and was very impressed. So I learned how to grow them so I can have them in my garden next year! The bulbs should be planted in autumn (October-November), about 15 cm deep, in well-drained soil and in a sunny spot.
Their late flowering makes them perfect for planting alongside early and mid-season varieties, so you can have a colorful garden from April to July!
They are also ideal for making cut flower arrangements, as their long, sturdy stems make them excellent for long-lasting bouquets.
Ho avuto la fortuna di apprezzare questi bellissimi tulipani durante una passeggiata e mi hanno stupito molto. Allora mi sono informata su come coltivarli per poterli avere il prossimo anno anche nel mio giardino! I bulbi vanno piantati in autunno (ottobre-novembre), a circa 15 cm di profondità, in un terreno ben drenato e in posizione soleggiata.
La fioritura tardiva li rende perfetti per creare una successione con le varietà precoci e medie, così da avere un giardino colorato da aprile a luglio!
Sono anche ideali per fare composizioni di fiori recisi, perché gli steli lunghi e resistenti li rendono ottimi per fare dei bouquet duraturi.
