Hola amigos || Hello friends
Hace unos días nos pusimos a ver Charlie y la fábrica de chocolate la cual es otra película que marca nuestra vida quedándose para siempre entre nosotros. Creo que todos estaremos de acuerdo en que esta es una de las producciones infantiles más icónicas de todos los tiempos y es difícil no quedarse enganchado con ella desde la primera vez que la vez. Lo que me hizo escribir sobre esta película es que no importa cuántos años pasen por ella o cuantas veces la hayas visto pues es una película que podremos seguir disfrutando de principio a fin sin tener una pizca de aburrimiento.
A few days ago, we sat down to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, another film that has left its mark on our lives and will stay with us forever. I think we can all agree that this is one of the most iconic children’s films of all time, and it’s hard not to be hooked on it from the very first time you watch it. What prompted me to write about this film is that, no matter how many years go by or how many times you’ve seen it, it’s a film we can continue to enjoy from start to finish without a hint of boredom.
Lo que hace que esta película mantenga su magia es la combinación entre su estética inigualable y esa historia que nunca pasa de moda. O por lo menos, esta es mi humilde opinión con respeto a lo mágico de la película por supuesto más allá de la gran actuación de Johnny Depp (Willy Wonka) o de Freddie Highmore (Charlie Bucket) como aquel niño que tuvo la suerte de obtener uno de los boletos dorados que le permitía el acceso a la fábrica de chocolate más grande y misteriosa de su ciudad además que la hacia los chocolates más deliciosos de su mundo.
What makes this film retain its magic is the combination of its unrivalled aesthetic and that timeless story. Or at least, this is my humble opinion regarding the film’s magic quite apart, of course, from the superb performances by Johnny Depp (Willy Wonka) and Freddie Highmore (Charlie Bucket) as the boy who was lucky enough to win one of the golden tickets granting him access to the largest and most mysterious chocolate factory in his town, which also produced the most delicious chocolates in the world.
Esta película suele atraparte fácilmente porque por un lado tenemos la realidad de la humilde casa y familia de Charlie donde nos enseñan que aun a pesar de su pobreza en su casa reina el amor. Por el otro lado tenemos la fábrica de Willy que al pasar por esas grandes puertas nos presenta un estallido de colores, imaginación y fantasías que despierta a cualquier niño o en mi caso, un alma de niño ja ja ja… Es un viaje visual que no pierde vigencia y que sigue sorprendiendo como el primer día.
This film tends to draw you in straight away because, on the one hand, we have the reality of Charlie’s humble home and family, where we learn that, despite their poverty, love reigns in their home. On the other hand, there’s Willy’s factory, which, as you pass through those huge doors, presents a riot of colours, imagination and fantasy that captivates any child or, in my case, a child at heart, ha ha ha… It’s a visual journey that never loses its appeal and continues to amaze just as much as it did on the very first day.
A lo mejor para muchos que la considere un icono del cine infantil le parezca exagerado pero personajes como Willy Wonka con esa personalidad tan extravagante e inolvidable, sumándole el encanto natural de Charlie y las divertidas intervenciones de los Loompas Loompas, crearon una fórmula que se quedó grabada en la cultura popular. Con una metáfora bastante clara, la película nos deja más que deliciosos dulces y risas nos deja un mensaje muy claro sobre la humildad, el respeto y la importancia de la familia frente ante al egoísmo. Es de esas historias completas que no solo entretiene a los niños, sino que hoy en día nos ofrecen una sensación de nostalgia y confort cada vez que le encontramos en la tv o como fue mi caso, la quise volver a ver.
It may seem an exaggeration to many who regard it as an icon of children’s cinema, but characters such as Willy Wonka, with his extravagant and unforgettable personality, combined with Charlie’s natural charm and the Loompas’ amusing antics, created a formula that has become ingrained in popular culture. With a fairly clear metaphor, the film leaves us with more than just delicious sweets and laughter; it leaves us with a very clear message about humility, respect and the importance of family in the face of selfishness. It is one of those well-rounded stories that not only entertains children, but also offers us a sense of nostalgia and comfort whenever we come across it on the telly or, as in my case, when I wanted to watch it again.
