Hola amigos || Hello friends
Es bueno volver a los TTT y es que a veces, sinceramente no sé de quién hablar o que recordar para que llegue a mí esa motivación de escribir una reseña musical. Hoy será nuevamente un TTT con algo de nostalgia y no porque la banda haya finalizado su trabajo, más bien siguen tan activos como en sus primeros años. Lo digo porque desde hace muchísimos años que en mi ciudad no se presenta un evento como los que presencie en los 2000 pero en fin, vayamos a lo que vinimos, hablar de música y de una banda que se ha consolidado no solo en este país si no en muchos de Latinoamérica.
It’s good to be back with the TTTs, because sometimes, honestly, I don’t know who to talk about or what to recall to get that motivation to write a music review. Today’s TTT will once again have a touch of nostalgia not because the band has stopped performing, but rather because they’re just as active as they were in their early years. I say this because it’s been many, many years since my city has hosted an event like the ones I witnessed in the 2000s, but anyway, let’s get to the point: talking about music and a band that has established itself not only in this country but throughout much of Latin America.
Y es que si hablamos de la escena venezolana, hay un nombre que se convirtió en un símbolo indiscutible de trayectoria, constancia y evolución. Si amigos, hablo de Candy 66 una banda que, sin duda, ha marcado un antes y un después. Si, hay muchas bandas venezolanas como Los mesoneros o los amigos de Viniloversus pero si algo tienen en particular estas dos, que siguen muchos patrones de Candy 66 y eso no está mal, sobre todo siendo Candy una de las bandas pioneras del Nu Metal en el país. Luego de su glorioso triunfo en el festival Nuevas Bandas, Candy no ha dejado de trabajar por su comunidad y menos por su música.
The thing is, when we talk about the Venezuelan music scene, there’s one name that has become an undisputed symbol of a long career, perseverance, and evolution. Yes, friends, I’m talking about Candy 66 a band that has undoubtedly marked a turning point. Yes, there are many Venezuelan bands like Los Mesoneros or the guys from Viniloversus, but what sets these two apart is that they follow many of Candy 66’s lead and that’s not a bad thing, especially since Candy is one of the pioneering nu-metal bands in the country. Since their glorious victory at the Nuevas Bandas festival, Candy has never stopped working for their community and certainly not for their music.
La banda dejó en claro desde sus inicios que no venía a seguir patrones, sino a construir un sonido propio y eso particularmente, creo que lo han conseguido y es que al repasar su discografía, resulta fascinante y bastante notorio cómo cada una de sus producciones discográficas tiene una identidad propia, un sello completamente distinto al anterior pero, porque siempre hay un pero, hubo un punto brutal en su carrera, como si el Hive llegara ahorita a 10$ tanto así fue el gran éxito que tuvo la banda con ese el álbum A+. Fue un disco duro, directo y revolucionario que transformó la propuesta que venían haciendo, consolidando una madurez sonora implacable que retumbaba en los altavoces de cualquier amante del buen rock.
From the very beginning, the band made it clear that they weren’t here to follow conventions, but to create their own sound—and in that regard, I think they’ve achieved it. When you look back at their discography, it’s fascinating and quite striking how each of their albums has its own identity—a style completely different from the one before. But because there’s always a “but” there was a pivotal moment in their career, as if “The Hive” were suddenly worth $10 that’s how huge a success the band had with the album A+. It was a hard-hitting, direct, and revolutionary album that transformed the sound they’d been developing, cementing a relentless sonic maturity that reverberated through the speakers of any lover of good rock.
Para mí hablar de esta banda no es solo revivir una lista de canciones en un reproductor, es revivir recuerdos imborrables pues tuve la oportunidad de verlos en vivo en cada una de las ocasiones en que visitaron mi ciudad, y cada show era una garantía de potencia absoluta. Candy 66 donde sea que llegaran, sonaban impecables. Pero más allá del escenario, lo que guardo con enorme cariño fueron esos encuentros fuera de la tarima. Compartir ideas con ellos, hablar de música y, como diría un venezolano, "echar bastante vaina" con una banda tan accesible y humilde, hizo que el respeto por su trabajo se transformara en una admiración mucho más personal.
For me, talking about this band isn’t just about revisiting a playlist on a music player it’s about reliving unforgettable memories, since I had the chance to see them live every single time they visited my city, and every show was a guarantee of absolute power. Candy 66 sounded flawless wherever they went. But beyond the stage, what I cherish most are those encounters offstage. Sharing ideas with them, talking about music, and as a Venezuelan would say “hanging out a lot” with such an approachable and humble band turned my respect for their work into a much more personal admiration.
Es imposible no sentir cierta nostalgia por aquellos tiempos en los que Farmar Aura se convertían en el epicentro de la movida local ja ja ja… Están bástate claro de lo que me refiero verdad ja ja ja… En fin, esos conciertos fueron encuentros para a mover la cabeza, brincar al ritmo de las guitarras, sentir el poder del bajo retumbando en el pecho y, a través del sudor y la música en vivo, liberar cualquier carga emocional. Candy 66 no solo marcó una etapa en el rock nacional, ellos definieron toda una generación que encontró en sus letras y en su fuerza un espacio de libertad.
It’s impossible not to feel a certain nostalgia for those days when Farmar Aura became the epicenter of the local scene, ha ha ha… You know exactly what I mean, right? Ha ha ha… Anyway, those concerts were opportunities to nod your head, jump to the beat of the guitars, feel the power of the bass rumbling in your chest, and through sweat and live music let go of any emotional baggage. Candy 66 didn’t just mark an era in Chilean rock; they defined an entire generation that found a space of freedom in their lyrics and their energy.
