I had a bit of time to spare this morning before meeting a friend for coffee, so on the way, I stopped off at the local country park for a short walk. It was nice to stretch my legs and get a bit of fresh air before sitting down for a catch up.
Near the car park, I noticed a greylag goose strolling along the tarmac. It was walking strictly in the direction of the painted road arrow, which made me smile. At least someone around here follows the traffic markings!
There was a large flock of white doves and pigeons gathered near the benches and café area. Volunteers had just fed them, so I took a wide berth so as not to disturb them.
Something else must have spooked them though, as they all flew off at once and nearly took my head off!
They did a circle and came back to land on the roof.
Two swans had just taken off from the main lake.
The autumn colours were looking lovely around the second lake, with vibrant trees reflecting on the water.
Further down the path, I came across a wooden signpost that read "HORSES THIS WAY" pointing in both directions. It made me wonder if horses can actually read, or if they just stand there trying to decide which way to go.
I also spotted a heron preening itself on a small island in the middle of the lake. It is a regular visitor here.
After a pleasant stroll around the two lakes and taking in the views from the fishing platforms, it was time to head back to the car. It was a nice walk to start the day. I then drove off for a nice cup of coffee with my friend.
Thanks to @tattoodjay for hosting the #wednesdaywalk challenge every week.
