I was opportune to watch Sisu 1, released in 2022. It was a hit, and honestly , I didn't really anticipate a sequel because I was satisfied with what I had.
Seeing the continuation got me excited but I was wondering what it was going to be about.
Beyond the action, this movie is about survival, resilience and family.
We all say we love our family, but when they're no more we only keep little memories of them, but in this film we see a man who lost his family yet treasured them so much that he was willing to die to preserve their memory.
Sisu 2: Road To Revenge was directed by Jalmari Helander and written by Jalmari Helander, the same director and writer of Sisu part one, starring Jorma Tommila, Stephen Lang and Richard Brake.
The movie was released in 2025, the genres are action, thriller, war, and adventure. The film runs for 1h 29m.
After world war 2, Aatami Korpi, a former Finnish soldier was able to save his life, but lost his family, the one thing he cherished a lot.
In order to preserve the memory of his family, he went back to his hometown and dismantled his wooden house and loaded them into a truck to transport them to a new place where he can start life again.
Unfortunately, he encountered the enemy on the way and showed them no mercy when they attempted to abort his mission.
Recognizing him as the “immortal” that once gave them a tough time, his old enemy Yeagor Dragunov who was responsible for the killing of his wife and children was unleashed from the prison to tackle him.
Things got more interesting; apart from fighting for survival, Aatami was also fighting to avenge his poor family that was murdered dishonorably.
There are a lot of things to talk about from this movie and one of them was Aatami’s silence.
He said very little throughout the movie, and his communication was basically in his facial expressions, and actions.
It depicts mystery, and people will always fear what they do not know. This made his character unique.
Another thing that stood out was Aatami's emotional side at the end of the movie. I was surprised to see a strong man whom everyone dreads break down in tears.
It shows that regardless of what a man may look like, he still has emotions.
For the character Aatami, it was quite understandable, for the first time he met a set of people who didn't want to kill him and more shocking, wanted to help him.
The scene where Aatami hid a knife under his skin when he was captured was very impressive. I admire the special visual effects, and the entire costume work. It's something that got me asking how it was achieved.
Above all, what I can say is that the character Aatami was the definition of survival, resilience and bravery.
One of the weaknesses that was quite disturbing for me is the extreme violence. The violence was so much that some of the scenes look unrealistic.
The graphics action became too obvious and this can make it less fun for those who prefer something simple and real.
I will recommend this movie to those interested in action, thriller, survival and adventure movies.
