The past Is In The Past

Src

We can not deny the fact that we miss the old times, our friends, our environment, our way of life, and so on.

Sometimes, it feels like we should just bring back everything and have all that fun again.

There is always this feeling that things in the past were better, and the present is difficult. I often feel this way, but lately I have understood that the reason why the past seems better is that we have experienced it already.

In the next few years to come, people will still say that they missed the good old days, referring to this time we are living in currently.

Now you see that there is a problem somewhere, right? There is nothing wrong with the times and seasons, but there is everything wrong with our mindset.

We are the ones creating bad and good times over the years. Time is neutral; we decide whether we call it “bad or good.”

Our actions and our mindset are what fix these things, but by default, no time is bad or good; if we decide that we want every time to be good, so shall it be.

But that doesn't mean that bad things won't happen to us or our society; they will, but even with those things happening, we can be enjoying good times.

Talking about bringing old buddies back, I had to reflect on my life. Those sweet days, especially the childhood days, the late-night plays, the games, the stubbornness, the adventures, everything put together was great.

I won't deny the fact that I miss those days, but you know what? They are gone, and no matter what I do, I can never bring those memories back.

Life is designed for us to grow and not be stagnant or return to what has already occurred; if we stay in these things, then we are not growing.

Times have changed and so do people. Our old buddies have now grown; some are married, some are busy with work, some are depressed, some are wiser and some are weak.

Life has shaped them into different things over the years. They might possess the same bodies and names, but they are not the people we used to know.

Even if they come back and we are given the opportunity to relate like we once did, things will not be the way we once experienced; probably we have to start creating another relationship, try to understand each other, and see if we can blend or just be casual.

Recently, one of my friends whom we've not seen for over a decade came to my shop, and he was quite excited to see me. I was happy to see him too, but guess what, things are no longer the same.

We couldn't even talk like we used to. I am now someone who doesn't find pleasure in long conversations. Meanwhile, he wants to talk; he keeps asking questions, and I got exhausted, so I stopped responding.

The looks on his face proved that he felt bad about how I was ignoring some of the conversations, and it wasn't intentional. This is the new me.

I no longer find pleasure in all those old things, all thanks to life for those beautiful experiences, but now I have to face life differently.

In a nutshell, even if our friends from the past are brought back and kept in one place, the fun won't be like it used to be.

The past is gone, so let's let it be and embrace what we now have. If those we once cherished are supposed to be part of the equation, fate will bring them back and place them where they are supposed to be in our lives, but for now, life goes on.

Exactly. We must all admit that we have all outgrown who we used to be, which means we can no longer have fun conversations with our childhood buddies like we used to.

I kinda feel bad for the guy, I wonder what he'll have in his head when he goes home. To him you are now a proud snubbish prick who feels too big to respond to a single conversation. Yet it's not even your fault, you just don't operate that way anymore. I've been there before. It's all good, life wasn't designed in such a way where you get to remain the same forever

Memories of the past are always beautiful, but with time, both we and our relationships change. You are absolutely right that instead of remaining lost in old memories, embracing the present and creating new ones is the best way to move forward in life.
