Poverty is one of the worst tormentors of life. If you were born with a silver spoon, never cease to appreciate God; life out there is not funny.
Someone woke up today and has nothing to eat, yet is on the street working. The same person has bills to settle, and his family is also expecting support from him. When he gets paid, he is confused about whether to settle bills, eat, or support his family.
I don't want to talk about what life is like out there for some people. But this torture is not easy to bear; this is why certain people put their hands into all kinds of crimes and take anything, even disrespect, just to escape that experience.
But I must make something clear before I proceed: tough times and difficulty in life are never a reason enough to indulge in criminal activities to make money.
There are many people who struggled like that but remained consistent in working and eventually made it. We have no justifiable reasons to commit crime of any kind.
Talking about the work of charity and the attitude with which it is done; in our world today, most of the people in need don't really care about the intentions and the attitude with which their needs are met.
Just settle their needs, and they are satisfied. This is why we see all kinds of disrespectful pictures of charity on social media.
The question I always ask is: must we publicize our works of charity? If you help people, must the world know about it?
I feel truly hurt anytime I see people exposing people's weaknesses and circumstances on social media, all in the name of charity.
Charity is good, but it should not insult the recipient. I have seen cases where money is thrown on the ground for people to pick up, and I wonder why.
If you truly want to give money to someone, attach some respect to it; let the person feel love and not be happy because you solved their problem alone.
For me, I don't care whether you are the last hope I have; if your help or assistance comes with disrespect or an agenda that I don't understand, then you should keep it to yourself.
God, who created me, will definitely reach out to me through someone who knows the value of people. This might sound like pride, but it's not right to disrespect people because you are helping them.
What blessings are attached to it then? Where is the love the giver is giving in it?
Let's forget about the fact that one's needs are usually met regardless of the aim of the giver; giving is first an act of love. If we take love out of the picture, it is nothing but hypocrisy.
So, I see no reason why we should take favors that come with dishonor and bad intentions simply because we are in need. Your need might be catered to, but the embarrassment around the act will not be taken away.
