Meeting with my friend's garden

*Hello everyone in the community! Today I want to share with you a little bit of my daily life and the immense joy I get from working the land. Greetings from Diego @encuentro.

We went to a good friend's small farm to put our all into the fieldwork, a job that requires sweat, but that brings satisfactions difficult to explain in words unless you experience them firsthand.

I arrived early with my hoe and machete in hand, ready to clear the land. There was quite a bit of accumulated brush, but that wasn't a problem; it ended up being a great blessing. All the brush I cut was left right there on the ground. Over time, that organic matter has decomposed and accumulated, creating a layer of natural fertilizer so fertile that the results are clearly visible. Just look at those corn plants: they're already over three meters tall! It's beautiful to see how they respond when they're treated well.

In one of the photos, you can see me picking the ears of corn. I'm telling you, very soon we'll be eating some good, delicious cachapas made with freshly harvested tender corn. I was impressed by the height of the plants, over 3 meters.

But the tour of the planting doesn't stop at corn. Before winter fully arrived, I planted some pumpkin plants, and I'm happy: they're already blooming beautifully with those vibrant yellow flowers among the green leaves.

I also took advantage of the day to collect a scallion branch that had good roots, which I soaked in a glass to replant and gradually multiply.

In fact, walking around, right under the stairs, I saw a little turmeric plant growing. c It's small but growing strong, so I'm going to take that one too to propagate it in the back of the property and take advantage of its properties.

Walking a little further, among the corn, I found something curious: a rice plant that already has a well-formed panicle.

I'm going to patiently care for that panicle to extract the seeds and replant it until it reproduces.

On the other hand, look how the yucca plants are doing. They already have a thick and firm stem. I have to tell you that last year I managed to harvest a whopping 7 kilos of cassava from just one plant. I was so thrilled with that result that this time I decided to go all out and planted 30 plants. I hope my good friend and I have an excellent harvest to share.

And to top it all off, I couldn't leave out the delicious touch: look at the bunch of plantains we have ready. From there we'll get some perfectly fried plantains, golden brown in lard, the kind that melt in your mouth and go perfectly with any meal.

With nothing more to add for now, I bid you all farewell with much affection. In these difficult times we are living through in our country, Venezuela, where putting food on the table often becomes a true daily feat, there is nothing more comforting, dignified, and satisfying than being able to eat the fruit of what you yourself planted with your own hands. A big hug to everyone!

Looks like a bit going on in there, I guess it's a small farm but looks like a good sized piece of land that a lot of plants can fit on. The plants look pretty happy anyway and it looks nice :) And yay for a share in the bounty!
