I’ve Been Quite Busy For The Past Few Months

update.jpg

Hi, I’m Enjar, the time-traveling cat. You might know me from my Path of Exile gaming days or perhaps those gardening posts I used to make. I’ve been swamped with so much to do, and I'm still swamped with things to do.

It’s starting to get to be that time of the year again, when most would feel it’s just too dang hot outside here. It’s also the time of year I look out of my window, and I’d rather be outside than inside. It might be hot, but it’s so amazing.

I’ve been tempted a couple of times to start up my Switching Worlds content again. Twice, I didn’t bring my phone as I did not want to risk getting it covered in sand. A third attempt was foiled, but that is alright.

I ended up having some in-laws spend almost a month with me. To pull that off, I was up to 4 AM or even later for months leading up to it. I’ve also been pulling 4 AM nights for many weeks now after.

It’s in fact being so busy as why I don’t get around to just so many things these days. You see, I have about 20 written posts I want to make. Along with 300 hours of video to edit. I have two game launches I just covered. Another 3 from expansions to game release coming up to cover. At this point, it’s not a matter of coming up with content to make. It’s trying to find out where to cut back.

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted about the garden. It’s a little scaled back this year. And nothing like it used to be many years ago. There also won’t be any photos of it for reasons I won’t be getting into. It was something fun to show for quite a while before I had to move. The tomatoes, bell peppers, and jalapenos are doing great, and so far, nothing has tried to eat it.

I’m not sure how long that will last. There have been a few bunnies around. They sometimes sit outside my window. They have even become friendly enough towards me to not run away anytime I’m out working in the yard.

Despite posting a lot less on Hive, things are starting to improve again on sites like PeakD. I think it’s been quite some time since I’ve had a post almost reach 1k views within a 30-day window on just PeakD alone. I still don’t understand the strange ordering of ranking, but it is what it is. At least I can see some of the page views.

It’s still, however, like it’s always been. My views come in after a post has closed. How many here get 200+ views on a post they made in 2022 in a single month in 2026? It is always fun checking in on the numbers from time to time. I’ll see strange spikes in things and posts I’ve not thought about in years.

enjargames dot com.jpg

As far as my own Hive frontend Enjargames. Since the Dapp I use for that has more or less been in maintenance mode for a while now. I don’t get to see analytics since Google changed what was required to get those numbers. Some sites I use to get review keys seem to estimate it at 5k-10k views, depending on the month. Nothing amazing, but with AI doing all the searching for people. There is less human traffic going to such content.

It’s also not the best-looking site. PeakD for sure kicks the snot out of it. Which is why, when it comes to written-only content. I still just post PeakD links in places like Discord. I’ve yet to run into a gaming place where a developer or mod has any issues with it. I know it’s not like a YouTube link, so players are less likely to click on it. It’s still my own little way to share Hive with the outside world when games give content creators a place to share their creations.

Since Twitter (X) went pay to play to get any kind of attention for a while now. I’ve mostly stopped giving it any real effort. Have not for quite some time. I was hoping at some point I’d come up with a reason to spend $8-40 a month on it. But then I’d realize I’d just rather put that towards buying a game I can’t get a review copy for.

Steam Curators are still a rather big disappointment. However, it requires so little effort to do. Once in a while, in a metric page, I’ll see some traffic I assume is coming from it. So, for now, it’s a low effort and a low return. Yet worth it since it's costing me nothing extra and like 30 seconds of my time if that.

YouTube channel.jpg

As far as YouTube is concerned. It’s kind of what I expected. Since I use text-to-speech, it’s hard to get any real traction. It’s also a big hit or miss at my size anyways. I’ve had some videos get 300+ watch hours and 1k views. While others get like 10 views. Still, numbers are going up and up.

I do believe my own posts on Hive are benefiting from it as well. Many search engines these days are going heavy into pushing video over written and have been for a while. When you have a mix of the two mediums, it simply has a chance of being ranked higher than other results. A couple of my posts over these past few months have been doing a lot better than expected after about a week of being published.

As far as ever getting monetized on YouTube, that is going to be a different story. It’s not the watch hours that will be the issue. As just one good video, even at my size, puts a massive chunk into it. It’s going to be the 1k followers requirement.

keyoffers.jpg

I’ve been getting more offers for things like review keys and such. This is my main reason to even use it in the first place. Getting review keys on games I want to play has kept things affordable and moving forward for me. I also now get a ton of review offers for stuff I would never go near. I’ve turned down like ten back in May.

While some recent games I’ve played, I did end up buying. I’ve been doing what I can to not need to sell any Hive at this point. While in theory, HBD interest i get could still cover what I want to spend on games for the year. With the way prices have been over the past couple of years for Hive. I’ve been trying to do without.

I have noticed quite the uptick in people using my invite or other codes for games. Which has been quite a blessing. I’ve still not heard back from Eve Online about joining their creator program. Which is a little disappointing after all the content I’ve made; they won’t give me a couple of months of Omega (subscription) time.

I have, however, had enough people use my invite code to Eve Online and buy their first month of Omega time. That I now have Omega till early September. With Eve Online being $20 a month if you are going month by month. That is a nice little savings. While I do have ISK in-game to buy Omega time. It would be nice to do other things with it.

All of this means I don’t have to sell any Hive or HBD to cover those costs at least for now. I was kind of hoping things would have been a bit better by now. At least for everything I’ve been doing. Numbers are going up. It’s just taking a bit longer than I’d have hoped by now.

Final Thoughts

I know this post was kind of all over the place. I’ve been wanting to do some updates for a while now. While some other things, I just don’t have the time for. I still find myself far too busy.

Perhaps next year I’ll be expanding out to the intern who has been fired or quite a dozen or so times. I should really tell him I’m going to triple his salary again if he comes back. Usually takes a moment for him to realize $0 is still $0.
