Como les había contando en anteriores publicaciones, tenía semanas trabajando en este proyecto, desde creando la imagen mental, comprando los materiales que iba a necesitar y reciclando otros.
Este fue un producto que elaboré a pedido por una amiga que es docente de educación especial y que además tiene un bebé con condición. Se ha vuelto fan de mis llaveros y me preguntó si podía hacerle uno inspirado en el tema, me envió algunas fotografías, honestamente lo encontré difícil, tanto que hice uno antes pero no me gustó como para presentarlo y me quedé con él, les iré contando esta aventura en el paso a paso.

Hello, everyone!
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I’d been working on this project for weeks—from coming up with the concept, to buying the materials I’d need, and recycling others.
This was a custom order for a friend who’s a special education teacher and also has a baby with a disability. She’s become a fan of my keychains and asked if I could make her one inspired by this theme. She sent me some photos, and honestly, I found it challenging—so much so that I made one earlier but didn’t like it enough to show it to her, so I kept it for myself. I’ll walk you through this adventure step by step.

Organizo las mini piezas de lego por color y tamaño como quiero que vayan.
Con una vela, caliento un clavo para abrir un agujero en cada lego y así poder pasar un aro. Procuro no dejar los bordes negros producto de quemar el plástico y si queda negro, lo limpio con una herramienta de corte. Luego de abrir cada agujero introduzco un aro en cada uno uniendo cada pieza.
El último aro lo introduzco ya en el aro de llavero.

I organize the small LEGO pieces by color and size in the order I want them to go.
Using a candle, I heat a nail to punch a hole in each LEGO piece so I can thread a ring through it. I try not to leave any black edges from burning the plastic, and if any do remain, I clean them off with a cutting tool. After punching each hole, I thread a ring through each one to connect the pieces.
I thread the last ring onto the keychain ring.

Aplico crema en mis manos y en la masa si necesita hidratación, moldeo una bolita y aplano con una tapa.
Con la herramienta de corte hago la forma del corazón, uso la bolsa sobre la herramienta de corte para que me deje los bordes redondeados de una vez.
Con la espátula corrijo las imperfecciones.

I apply cream to my hands and to the dough if it needs moisture, shape it into a small ball, and flatten it with a lid.
I use the cutting tool to cut out a heart shape, and I place the bag over the cutting tool so that it creates rounded edges in one go.
I use the spatula to smooth out any imperfections.

La otra pieza es una forma de infinito, esta pieza fue bastante difícil de lograr, pues no es fácil que mantenga la forma y que las uniones no se vieran.
Realicé una tira, a la que luego aplané con la tapa, pude usar el rodillo pero, cuando se trabaja con piezas pequeñas, grandes herramientas pueden entorpecer nuestro trabajo en vez de facilitarlo.
Realizo la forma del infinito y luego introduzco en cada pieza la aguja con aro que lo sujetará del llavero, a esto previamente le coloco un poquito de silicón y doblo la punta final para que no se salga con el peso.
Ambas piezas tardaron tres días aproximadamente en secarse completamente.

The other piece is shaped like an infinity symbol. This piece was quite difficult to make, since it’s not easy to keep it in shape and hide the seams.
I made a strip, which I then flattened with the lid. I could have used a rolling pin, but when working with small pieces, large tools can hinder our work rather than make it easier.
I shaped the infinity symbol and then inserted the needle with the ring—which will attach it to the keychain—into each piece. I applied a small amount of silicone to the ring beforehand and bent the end so it wouldn’t pop out under the weight.
Both pieces took about three days to dry completely.

Una vez que las piezas secaron completamente, con un lápiz dibujo el boceto sobre ellas procurando que la pieza de un lado coincida con el otro.
Mis piezas anteriores las había pintado con pinturas acrílicas y pincel, no me quedaron muy prolijas pues mi pulso no me daba la presión, sin embargo recordé que tengo marcadores de pintura acrílica e hice la prueba ¡Eso fue genial! Me dio no solo mayor precisión sino mejor cobertura. Luego dejo secar bien la pintura.
Aplico una capa de resina UV en cada pieza por un lado, luego las introduzco en la lámpara por 3 minutos de cada lado mientras siento que no ha secado bien. No olvides los bordes y usar guantes para esto, les he comentado que soy alérgica a este producto y debo manejarlo con guantes.
Una vez las piezas tengan su baño de resina, introduzco un aro en cada una y la posiciono en el llavero, me encantó mi producto terminado ¿Qué opinan? Lo hice con todo el amor del mundo.

Once the pieces were completely dry, I used a pencil to sketch the design onto them, making sure the design on one side matched the other.
I had painted my previous pieces with acrylic paints and a brush, but they didn’t turn out very neat because my hand wasn’t steady enough to apply the right amount of pressure. However, I remembered that I had acrylic paint markers, so I gave them a try—and it was great! It gave me not only greater precision but also better coverage. Then I let the paint dry thoroughly.
I apply a coat of UV resin to one side of each piece, then place them under the lamp for 3 minutes on each side until I feel they’ve dried properly. Don’t forget the edges, and be sure to wear gloves for this—as I’ve mentioned, I’m allergic to this product and must handle it with gloves.
Once the pieces have been coated with resin, I insert a ring into each one and attach them to the keychain. I absolutely loved my finished product—what do you think? I made it with all the love in the world.
