The reason I like art camp works a lot is because you get to see a wild variety of themes and maybe the craziest artworks. My plan is to visit such a camp once, if permitted, see with my own eyes how the daily work goes and talk to a few artists, if they are willing to share, whatever details they like. The problem is, these camps usually are located outside of any city and held during summer, when people are on holiday. Anyway, if you want something, you find a way and make it happen as no one is going to do it for you, so maybe one day.
It was last month when I visited this exhibition and I see I still have a bunch of photos to share with you, so let's get to it.
Let's start with this really funny sculpture, which is the work of Attila Diénes and it is called New Hairstyle. There's no way you can watch this statue without laughing, or smiling honestly and I don't think I have to say more. Just enjoy it and don't forget to smile.
Next was Gábor Horvát's work, called Forest Fire, a metal creation that reminds us of those devastating fires that destroy a good part of the forests globally. The difference between this artwork and those fire is that most of the times, nothing is left of the trees, not even the tree trunk. A friendly and arty reminder to take better care of our heritage, otherwise the upcoming decades are going to be a living hell.
Female silhouettes or statues are very common in art, but this piece by László Nemes called Erotika I. somehow is different. The shape of it makes the difference in my eyes and it's a good one.
Another interesting one by Gábor Horváth called Waterfall. Waterfalls usually are used by painters as theme, rarely in other form of art. What's interesting here is the artists raw material choice, which is wood and metal, but more interesting than that is the fact that the water is taking a detour and not landing at the bottom of the wooden piece. Not one I'd place on my table, but a very interesting interpretation, regardless.
Rebirth by Attila Diénes is another one of my favorite from this series. I'm not sure why the hair of the person is so messy, but I think it doesn't even matter. So many times I admire the creativity of these artists and think I'd never have thought of creating a similar artwork, which is why I'm not an artist :)
This is the Shaman of Gábor Horváth. In some cultures the shaman has a lot of power and is respected like a god. If you enlarge the photo, you can see the details on his clothes, that most likely mean a lot to those who understand it.
This is the second piece of László Nemes's Erotika series. This piece is a bit different from the first one and more complex from my perspective, more texture is added and it's not just the silhouette. However, while the first one was pretty explicit, this is a bit more mysterious. I could share my opinion about what you see here, but I think I'll leave it to you, let's hear what you think you see here :)
This was a funny and strange one from Barbara Bódi, called Proboscis. I could imagine it as a vase.
I'm going to end this post with Mana Bucur's Distortion. Nice textured terracotta (I think) distortion.
Let me know which one is your favorite today. I hope you have one.
