Visiting Dracula Danes Domain

Last weekend, on Sunday I had the chance to visit the Dracula Domain in Danes. It is a famous place in Transylvania, that I first visited in 2020, but our visit was kind of restricted to outside areas back then as it was right after the covid lockdown was lifted and closed areas were still off limits.

So this time I made sure to visit every place available and take photos too as it worth pinning the place on the blockchain for whoever wants to visit it.

The Danes Dracula Domain is outside of any city and it is situated 6 km away from Sighișoara, accessible by road. There's a big parking lot available for free, for anyone visiting.

The two metal or wooden horses at the entrance, decorated with lovely flowers, although a bit too kitschy for my taste, hint at finding horses at the venue.

This is the building hosting the reception, the restaurant and the rooms offering accommodation.

The architecture is simple by choice, and the flower decorations are there to to highlight the simplicity of the architecture. I rather prefer a simple architecture, over a pompous, overdecorated one. Let simplicity be the beauty.

The reception was kind of strange and kitschy in my opinion and the receptionist kind of rude. Not that I would ever stay there, but I wanted to see the prices and she answered as if my question was somehow offensive. Or did I bother her watching a South American soap opera? That was definitely not the way to treat customers.

Our goal was to have lunch, I posted about the dishes already here so you can check it out if you like. In short, it looks like they have a staff related problem. It shows that's the area where they would most likely want to cut costs and that's what is going to bury them. Anyway, let's move on as criticism is not the goal here.

The estate is quite big and there's a map for those learning about what they can visit and do. They are offering birdwatching, equitation, playground to kids, they have a barbecue zone, swimming pool, a zoo, a small museum of carriages and so on, but let's take a walk through the estate.

The park next to the restaurant is beautiful, especially during this season, when the trees are offering you a great variety of colors and if you're lucky for the sun to be out and get a lovely blue sky, the whole place looks like a painting.

Behind the park there's the stable. I have already posted about the horses, so you can check my post here.

There was this carriage parked there, next the the stable, which makes me believe it is used to give visitors a ride around the property.

There's a second option for accommodation behind the park. These units are quieter and the view is better. If I would not know what I know, I'd definitely spend some time there. There was no way to see the rooms, but you check them online. Anyway, I'd love to sit there and read, or trade 😜

Next to the stable are these storage rooms for all the equipment you need for riding. It was interesting to look around and see it from close as honestly, for me, it was the first time.

There was this cute bell with a horse, outside the building.

Then there was the place they call zoo. I mean yes, they have a variety of animals, but you can't really call a zoo as the size of it is a joke, compared to a real zoo.

The animals were cute though.

There were a lot of kids visiting and obviously they loved the animals.

This place looked interesting with all the equipment on display, but then I realized it was set up for tourists to take photos there :)

This is the carriage station :) I'm not sure if it is really the place carriages depart from, but it's a funny sign.

This is the small carriage museum next to the stable. The last one, according to them, was Santa Clause's carriage, which must have been a joke as no way on Earth Santa would use such a carriage.

All in all, it's a lovely place to visit, if you can.

Wow, what a beautiful place—perfect for spending the day. It really is quite large and spacious, so you can explore it and still have plenty of time to take it all in. When I read Dracula, I thought it would be a spooky place because of the name, but it’s actually a full-fledged stables complex with stunning spaces. It’s a shame the receptionist wasn’t courteous to you—it’s a pity, because friendliness is very important for getting customers to return to the places they’ve visited and, of course, to recommend them. Best regards

It really is a place I’d visit without a second thought, and I hope it doesn’t go bust because of the staff’s poor service… they should be friendly, not like that, their attitude just puts people off. Everything to do with the horses, the gardens and even the spot set up for tourists to take photos is absolutely lovely. Thank you!!
