Quiero quedarme.
Un abrazo grandototote. Espe
While I was starting a new journal, I ended up thinking about something that has less to do with paper and much more to do with the way I experience processes.
Starting things comes relatively easily to me. I have many journals I’ve started, ideas I’ve begun, projects that once excited me. The real challenge comes afterward: staying with them over time.
Staying when something doesn’t turn out the way I expected. When I don’t know how to keep going. When the result looks nothing like what I imagined. When I look at what others are doing and start comparing myself to people who have a different journey, different skills, and many more years of experience.
Then I thought about something very simple: when we learn to walk, ride a bike, or develop any other skill, we assume we’re going to fall many times. We don’t expect to do it perfectly on the first try.
Why is it that, as adults, it becomes so hard to give ourselves that same permission?
For me, trusting the process is starting to mean exactly that: accepting that I’m still learning, that making mistakes is also part of the journey, and that something doesn’t have to turn out perfectly to have value.
But above all, it means not giving up on something that makes me feel good simply because I’m not as good at it yet as I would like to be.
Over these past few months, I’ve realized that when I find something that lights me up inside, makes the hours go by without me noticing, and for a little while makes everything else go quiet, I want to learn to embrace it and hold on to it.
So this time I want to try something different: not just to start. I want to stay.
A big, big hug. Hope
