Black And White

A Different Kind of Bloom in Monochrome// Monomad Challenge

Namaste everyone,

We usually fall in love with flowers because of their colours. A red rose instantly feels romantic. Yellow flower feels very bright and yet cheerful. Purple colour of petals feels dramatic and catches our attention from a distance. Colour is the first language through which flower introduces itself to us. What happens if all the colour disappears ?

Today I decided to look at flowers differently through black and white. Flowers began to tell a different story. This is my entry for #monomad challenge.

Without the presence of colour, it is difficult to attract the eyes. If we look closely, there are little things that becomes more important : the curves of the petal, texture of the leaf, shadows behind the fold of flower and also delicate patterns hidden in the nature.

Shape and character became the focus

A flower that looked ordinary in colour can suddenly become dramatic in black and white. Perhaps, it didn't took the beauty away from the flowers. It simply made us to look a little closer.

These photographs are my attempts to capture the quiet side of flowers- their shapes, texture, shadows other than their colours. So beauty doesn't need colour to stand out. It was :

A different kind of bloom
A quiet kind of beauty
Flower without the colour but not without its character

Some petals, appeared soft and delicate. Others looked almost amazing, especially where light and shadows met each other. Even the smallest imperfections became the part of the photograph rather than something to hide.

After clicking the black and white photographs, I realized that a petal doesn't need to be perfect to look beautiful. Flower doesn't need to be bright to be noticed. So, beauty becomes more powerful when the colour disspears - the way the light bends, survives the winds and continues to bloom.
