Resource Enjoying a soccer match—whether from the stands or in front of the TV—can stir up such excitement that when our favorite team scores a goal, we spring up and even raise our voices far above the usual level.
But when that match is defined by our own steps on the field of life, we cease to be mere passive observers and become true protagonists.
The more fiercely contested the match, the more thrilling it becomes; and this is the situation we Cubans face today, where we must play on uneven ground—where the economic crisis is as jagged as razor-sharp limestone, and the players act like wild beasts poised to attack.
You advance with the ball—its potential severely limited—firmly intent on shooting at the goal, only to realize at that very moment that it is severely under-inflated; even with a kick of maximum power, attempting a precise strike would be absurd.
When you factor in the goalkeeper’s strength, skill, and agility, success seems impossible. Yet, the game must go on, despite the adverse conditions.
In this context, we know that as we move, we are up against highly skilled players—players from whom it is nearly impossible to take the ball and who are also prone to tripping opponents.
Nevertheless, even if we do not leap for joy at every successful play we make, our inner self feels its pulse quicken and keeps score, all the while fueling our optimism.

Disfrutar de una partida de fútbol, ya sea desde las gradas o frente a la pantalla del televisor, nos puede emocionar tanto que cuando nuestro equipo favorito anota un gol, saltamos como un resorte y hasta elevamos la voz mucho más allá de lo común.
Pero cuando ese partido se encuentra signado por nuestros pasos en el terreno de la vida, dejamos de convertirnos en simples observadores pasivos, para convertirnos en verdaderos protagonistas.
Mientras más reñido se nos presenta el partido, más emocionante se torna; y eso nos ocurre a los cubanos en la actualidad, donde hay que jugar sobre el terreno irregular, donde la crisis económica es como el diente de perro, y los actores se manifiestan cual fieras listas para atacar.
En este contexto, sabemos que al desplazarnos estamos ante jugadores muy habilidoso, a quienes resulta casi imposible quitarles el balón, además pueden poner zancadillas.
Avanzas con el balón de las restringidas posibilidades, con la férrea disposición de lanzarlo a la portería, pero en el preciso momento te percatas de que como le falta mucho aire, aunque la patada se realice con el máximo de potencia, sería absurdo intentar una conexión certera.
Si a lo anterior agregamos la fortaleza del portero, sus habilidades y la rapidez en los desplazamientos, nos convencemos de la imposibilidad para el éxito. No obstante el juego debe continuar a pesar de las condiciones adversas.
No obstante, aunque no saltemos de emoción, ante cada jugada exitosa que realizamos, nuestro ámbito mayor aumenta sus palpitaciones y hace sus anotaciones mientras espolea nuestro optimismo.
