First Day Of School, The Unexpected Barn Door Install Day Long Job - Wednesday

It was the boys' first day of school yesterday and we got them dropped off at the normal time. They both ended up having great days and J had his first cross country practice after school. I had what I thought was just a visit to a client for a bid on a job but it ended up turning into an all day+ job to assemble her barn doors for inside the house.

Thankfully I had enough tools with me but I had not brought anything to eat.

This was the stack of boxes on her front porch.

I setup on the back patio and got to work assembling the doors themselves. Not hard but just took time for each. 3 different door sizes and 8 doors in total.

It took a bit to get the rail set correct so the door would cover the opening but slide out of the way enough. I have a few holes to patch when I go back Monday to finish.

I learned fast on the first rail so the next went in cleaner.

On her large closet I got the double rail installed but still have to set the depth better Monday. There are lag bolts in 4 studs and the outer brackets are using sheet rock inserts. Thankfully it is only sheer strength needed and not leverage strength on them.

The doors had to be drilled for the rollers which then bolted on. She and I talked out the sizing so the 32" wide doors went on the bathroom and the closet.

The pair of 36" doors went on the large closet and work very nicely.

These opening will get a double double setup. Double rails that are 5 feet wide but 2 of them end to end that will have a pair of 24" wide doors to cover each. That will be my Monday task along with the finishing of the other double plus the door guides all need to be installed.

I was able to get the 24" doors all drilled for the rollers and set everything in the bedroom so it is out of her way for the weekend.

All the doors are UP these stairs. So all the doors were hauled from the front patio through the house to the back patio where I assembled them and drilled them then had to be hauled up the stairs to be installed. A couple doors were hauled up and down and up again... I got my stairs workout in for the day for sure.

I was able to leave before 4pm which allowed me to get home and have about 15 minutes to shovel some food in my face before I went to pick J up after cross country practice. I got home with him and had about 10 minutes before @stryeyz got home from work and we then headed back into town for our couples session. That went well, we then stopped at the store on the way home and grabbed a take and bake pizza for dinner.

Today get the boys to school in an hour then I have a mid morning job at one of my client's to install a shelf in an ex-lazy susan cabinet. I removed the lazy susan and now will put a shelf in that she can better store her pots and pans. I also need to get the supplies for the tile sealing job I have tomorrow, get my clothes washed, pick in the garden, and get J after practice.
