On Friday night I had opened the house up because it was to be low 80’s on Saturday. I had planned to mow but the grass hadn’t grown enough to warrant it. I did sit and pay bills/do budget for a few hours on Saturday morning as I waited for the grass to dry. But in the end, I was too cold and ended up like this in my chair all day, wrapped in a blanket with my sweater on. I read a lot and watched a few videos.

In the afternoon my son went out and weedwacked along the driveway so I could fix the fence on Sunday.
I got the house opened up and was in bed around 8:30PM.

On Sunday I was up around 6AM, checked my e-mail and cleaned up the kitchen. My #2 intern was coming and we were going to fix the fence along the driveway. The deer had taken out the wire, and my brother had broken off posts plowing in the winter.
So we headed to the barn in the truck, got repair supplies and tools and went to work. The first repair was an end fence post, broken off and thrown over into the grass. I’m not replacing the fence posts as no animals are in the pastures. I just need the posts upright to hold the wires. So the broken ones were wired to T posts we drove in next to them.
My #2 intern made several trips to the barn for posts as there were more than I expected needing repair. But we got it all back up and the wires attached, along the driveway.

It was a much bigger job than I had anticipated and I was pretty tired by the time we made it to the road. Not the spring chicken I used to be…
We got the equipment put away and she was going to replace the eaten green peas in the garden. I still had most of a tray that had been in the roundtop window since the last planting.

While she was planting the green peas, I got my photos and went in and got a shower. When she finished, she harvested the squash and cukes. She got about 6 summer squash, 2 zucchinis and half a dozen cukes.
I sat and rested for a while then got some lunch. I had the last Sunday concert and an art show in the afternoon.

When my friend and I got to the concert venue, we found the seating set up as usual. As we wait for the concert to start, I often study this portrait. I find it odd that the dogs are far more detailed and life-like than the woman.

This couple from Bulgaria has played in this concert series for over a decade. They typically fly in to perform from wherever they are in the world.

The sponsors had their 51st anniversary on August 16th and the performers anniversary is on August 31st. This was their last concert for the summer. I particularly enjoyed the Beethoven Allegro.
It had started to sprinkle outside but the reception went on and it stopped after a couple minutes. We didn’t tally long because we wanted to get to the art show next door before it ended at 5PM.

I particularly like this artist’s work, but can’t afford him. Not that I have wall space anywhere to display anything new…
We headed home along the back way for the last time this year.
I read and watched videos until bedtime around 9PM. It was to be another cool night, so the house was opened up.
On Monday no one is coming and I’m hoping to get outside and clean out the West and West Herb garden as the invasive weed has returned. I also need to do laundry and finish the bills/budget.
