The heavy rain stops the construction, for the most part

one of the great annoyances about living in Da Nang as well as most of Vietnam is the constant noise. No matter what you do you are going to be subjected to constant banging, shouting, beeping, loud stereos, and just an assault on your ears all the time other than the middle of the night.

The heavy rain that we have been experiencing somewhat lately has put a damper on a lot of that though and it is for this reason and the fact that it cools it down a great deal that I really enjoy these rainy spells that we have.

I have a soft spot for construction workers because I did this job for a bit many years ago. When I did it, it was hard work with an insistence on starting the day at dawn for some reason. Here in Vietnam not only do these guys work a hell of a lot of hours, but they also get paid fuck all. Something like $10 a day is what an unskilled laborer can expect to receive. Tragic! But that is the way of the world.

Perhaps this photo doesn't fully exhibit exactly how hard it was raining but lets just say that my doggy friend did not get allowed to go on her much cherished poopy-walk because of it. I like the one guy in the foreground there that has a hardhat on for safety's sake, and also flip flops.

IT was raining so hard that I had to be quite quick with my shots because my phone was getting wet holding it out the window. I am such a clutz that it wouldn't surprise me if a wet phone slipped from my fingers and then fell to the street below. The phone has already survived a horrible bicycle crash, I don't want to test the durability too much.

You can kind of see the sea there but the real focus on this is the rather intimidating and dark nature of the skies. We have had thunderstorms for the past week and it has been quite strange because for a few hours, normally in the afternoon, all the clouds go away and it is like a normal sunny day at the beach.

Don't be fooled though, if you go out without your umbrella thinking you are going to be safe you are likely terribly terribly wrong in this endeavor.

In years past, Nadi has gotten very frightened by thunderstorms and she will try to sit as close as she can to me. This is the one and only time that she likes to cuddle - out of fear!.

It is a little concerning to me that she didn't do that at all yesterday because I think she is sleeping a lot more heavily than she did when she was younger and also her hearing is not so good anymore. This is what happens when doggies get older!

  • I also love the rain and a good storm because I find it so relaxing and the same for you with the construction noise. That guy wearing flip flops and a hard hat is laughable because seriously that is not exactly going to do much if he slips on the site. These phones today are not exactly durable and we never had these problems with the first Nokia bricks.

I was going to ask if that guy was barefoot or in flip flops. That's just nuts! OSHA would crap themselves if they saw that! :) It's pretty cool that one area has solar panels though. I'd love to get me some solar panels one day.

At least when it rains, all you can hear is the sound of the rain. Hehe

It's a good thing that it's still raining these days because, in the coming months, the predicted El Niño may arrive. The Pacific Ocean is experiencing extremely high temperatures, which could affect our country and other countries as well.😊

  • I absolutely love quiet environments so I can relate to how you must be feeling. If possible I would like to live off a huge farmland with my family someday, but right now that's just a pipe dream.

Rain impacts us all in different ways depending on our life experience. For example, for individuals who are living in extreme misery due to their circumstances, heavy rains can trigger panic or destroy the few means of protection one could count on. Conversely, for those who are fortunate enough to live in wealthy metropolis, it’s simply a lovely day without work obligations.
