A Visit to the Town of Santa Rosa [ENG/ESP]

Greetings, dear fellow travelers at @worldmappin! I hope you’re enjoying a well-deserved weekend break.

I’m back with you today to take you on a tour of Bolívar Square and the streets of the picturesque town of Santa Rosa, located east of Barquisimeto, very close to Cabudare.

I visited this site a few days ago to attend a Mass of thanksgiving for the completion of my daughter’s medical studies as a surgeon.

Before arriving at the church, I took the opportunity to snap a few photos of the streets and the plaza. The plaza is well-maintained, colorful, and clean. People take advantage of the shade provided by the trees to sit on the benches and chat or simply watch the pigeons as they eat on the ground.

Very close by is the house where the pigeons live; they have now multiplied and perch on the bust of Simón Bolívar in the center of the plaza.

The streets of Santa Rosa are narrow—so narrow, in fact, that two vehicles barely fit when they pass each other—and the houses are colonial-style buildings with facades painted in bright colors, Creole-style tile roofs, and iron windows that preserve the atmosphere of the last century.

When we talk about Santa Rosa, we immediately think of the Divine Shepherdess, the image of the Virgin Mary found in the town’s church.

In addition, Santa Rosa has always been a must-see destination for tourists because of its beautiful views of the Turbio River Valley and because it is a town rich in history and traditions.

You can reach this site from Barquisimeto by taking Lara Avenue eastward out of the city, and from Cabudare by taking the inter-municipal avenue to the Santa Rosa roundabout.

That concludes our tour of this picturesque spot in the Larense region. We’ll meet again another time.

Una visita al poblado de santa Rosa

Saludos estimados amigos viajeros de @worldmappin, espero que estén disfrutando de un merecido descanso de fin de semana.

Hoy de nuevo con ustedes para mostrarles un recorrido por la plaza Bolívar y calles del pintoresco poblado de santa Rosa, ubicado al este de Barquisimeto muy cerca de Cabudare.

Asisti a este sitio en dias pasados a una misa de acción de gracias por la culminación de la carga académica de mi hija como médico cirujano.

Antes de llegar al templo, aproveché el momento para captar algunas imágenes de las calles y la plaza. La plaza esta bien mantenida, con mucho colorido y limpieza. Las personas aprovechan la sombra de los árboles para sentarse en las bancas a conversar o simplemente para contemplar las palomas mientras comen en el suelo.

Muy cerca está la casa donde viven las palomas que ahora se han multiplicado y se posan sobre el busto de Simón Bolívar en el centro de la plaza.

Las calles de santa Rosa son angostas, tanto que dos vehículos quedan justos cuando coinciden y las casas son construcciones de tipo colonial con sus fachadas pintadas con colores vivos, sus techos de teja criolla y sus ventanas de hierro que mantienen el ambiente al estilo del siglo pasado.

Cuando se habla de santa Rosa enseguida lo relacionamos con la divina pastora, la imagen de la virgen Maria que se encuentra en el templo del poblado.

Además santa Rosa es un lugar que siempre ha sido visita obligada para los turistas por sus hermosas vistas al valle del río Turbio y por ser un pueblo lleno de historia y tradiciones.

A este sitio se llega desde Barquisimeto por la avenida Lara siguiendo hacia el este de la ciudad y desde Cabudare por la avenida intercomunal hasta la redoma de santa Rosa.

@gpache, this was a real treat. Santa Rosa looks alive—color, people, all of it. The photos pull you right in and make the streets feel close. I loved the pigeons landing on Bolívar’s bust, and those narrow colonial streets make me want to walk them slowly, no rush, peeking at balconies and old walls.

The Divina Pastora got me. You can feel how deeply people love her, how she fills the town with faith. That kind of devotion deserves respect. The way you wrote about it brings the place close.

That’s the thing about Worldmappin and everyone posting here. You learn about places you might never see, and somehow they start to feel familiar. I keep a running list of spots I find. Santa Rosa has earned its place on it. If I ever get to Venezuela, I’m going.

@gpache, esto ha sido un verdadero regalo. Santa Rosa se ve llena de vida: el color, la gente, todo. Las fotos te atrapan y hacen que las calles se sientan cercanas. Me encantaron las palomas posándose en el busto de Bolívar, y esas calles coloniales estrechas me dan ganas de recorrerlas despacio, sin prisa, mirando de reojo los balcones y las paredes viejas.

La Divina Pastora me llegó. Se siente lo mucho que la quiere la gente, cómo llena el pueblo de fe. Esa devoción merece respeto. La forma en que escribiste sobre ella hace que el lugar se sienta cerca.

Eso es lo que tiene Worldmappin y todos los que publican aquí. Uno aprende sobre lugares que quizá nunca vea y, de algún modo, empiezan a sentirse familiares.
