Greetings, fellow walkers from @wednesdaywalk! I hope you’ve had a very productive and satisfying day.
Here, I’d like to share some photos of the area around Rómulo Gallegos Avenue and Carrera 28 in Barquisimeto, where I went for a walk after dropping off my car at a repair shop to have the front suspension fixed.
The car was leaking hydraulic fluid from the steering box, so they recommended a repair shop located on Carrera 28 between 43rd and 44th Streets that specialized in this type of repair.
The wait was a bit long because they had to disassemble the housing, replace some parts, and then reassemble it. It was around noon, so I left the mechanics working while I walked along Carrera 28 toward Rómulo Gallegos Avenue—also known as 42nd Street, since that’s its street number.
Along the way, I took the opportunity to snap some photos of the streets, avenues, and local businesses. This area is located in the western part of the city, and 42nd Avenue is one of the oldest; it’s known for having a large number of stores selling auto and truck parts. When someone needs to buy parts, they head to this avenue and check each store until they find the best price.
The avenue isn’t as well-organized as other avenues in the city; in fact, along with Vargas Avenue, it’s one of the least attractive in terms of appearance due to its disorderly and somewhat neglected look.
There are lush trees on its central island that provide plenty of shade, and many businesses display their signs and merchandise out on the street, which contributes to the clutter I’m talking about. However, it’s a very busy street, especially during rush hour, and it connects directly to Libertador Avenue, which is the thoroughfare with the heaviest traffic.
The walk was very hot because the sun was especially bright that day; I stopped at an empanada shop and had something to eat there on my way home.

Caminata de miércoles por la avenida Rómulo Gallegos y alrededores
Saludos amigos caminantes de @wednesdaywalk, espero que su día haya sido muy provechoso y satisfactorio.
Por acá les quiero compartir algunas imágenes de la zona de la avenida Rómulo Gallegos y la carrera 28 de Barquisimeto, donde estuve caminando luego de dejar mi carro en un taller para hacerle reparaciones del tren delantero.
El carro estaba presentando un bote de aceite hidráulico por el cajetín de la dirección y me recomendaron un taller ubicado en la carrera 28 entre 43 y 44 que se especializaba en este tipo de reparaciones.
La espera fue un poco larga porque tuvieron que desarmar el cajetín, cambiarle algunas piezas y luego volver a armar. Se me hizo la hora del mediodía y dejé a los mecánicos trabajando mientras me fui caminando por la carrera 28 hacia la avenida Rómulo Gallegos , también llamada la 42, por ser éste su número de calle.
En el trayecto aproveché para tomar algunas fotografías de las calles, avenidas y negocios existentes. Esta zona corresponde al oeste de la ciudad y la avenida 42 es una de las más antiguas y se caracteriza por poseer gran cantidad de negocios de ventas de repuestos para autos y camiones. Cuando alguien necesita comprar repuestos, acude a esta avenida a preguntar en cada negocio hasta conseguirlo al mejor precio.
La avenida no está tan bien organizada como otras avenidas de la ciudad, de hecho es junto a la avenida Vargas las menos agraciadas en cuanto a su aspecto por su apariencia desordenada y un poco descuidada.
Tiene frondosos árboles en su isla central que brindan buena sombra y muchos negocios que sacan los avisos y la mercancía a la calle, lo cual contribuye al desorden del que les hablo. Sin embargo es muy transitada, especialmente en horas pico que comunica directamente a la avenida Libertador que es la arteria con más tránsito vehicular.
La caminata fue muy calurosa porque ese día el sol estaba especialmente radiante, llegué a un negocio de empanadas y allí pude comer algo, mientras llegaba a mi casa.
