[Manga] Hell's Paradise Vol2. : The badass Sagiri showing why she is strong.

When I started reading Hell's Paradise from scratch, I had a bit of doubt about whether that was the right approach after watching the 2 available seasons; the anime covers around 10 of the 13 volumes and finishes the story of Hell's Paradise. But I didn't want to wait, and I guess restarting the story through the manga was better; it gave me more interesting thoughts and a better understanding of the manga's history and background.

Volume 1 was good,; itbrought some debates about mortality and guilt. But volume 2 may be the one that is bringing some other interesting topics, with the focus on Sagiri showing that she is a badass ass. But probably the story brings some new characters that would support Sagiri and Gabimaru in the quest of keeping them alive and getting the Elixir of Life. The first three that the pair find are the criminal Yuzuriha, a seductive ninja who is guarded by two samurai, the original samurai assigned to her, Senta and Genji, who kill the criminal after he tries to escape. Genji decided to help Senta, considering Yuzuriha too dangerous. Yuzuriha sees that Gabimaru is strong and decides that it is a good idea to join the strong side, but she tries seducing him, and despite being a criminal, Gabimaru doesn't accept it well.

The other pair presented, but for now a side story, is with the brothers Aza, the criminal Chobei, i and the samurai assigned to Toma. Despite of Toma's being a samurai, he is very submissive to his brother that always took care of him. Chobei is wild and even calls him a god after killing some monsters. He is strong and superb.

But for sure, the most important part is when the Samurai Genji says to Sagiri that since she is a woman, this place was too dangerous for a person like her. But Sagiri teaches him a lesson that make him in the end of his life, in his final moments after being hit mortally by the giant criminal Rokurota he admits that he was wrong and it is probably one of the moments that are more emotive in the manga. First Genji trying to subjugate Sagiri, then Sagiri rebelling against the order and Genji giving his sword to Sagiri since she is a worth Samurai.

In his final moments, Genji trusts Sagiri to kill the criminal, not Gabimaru or any other man, but he knew that only Sagiri could do it. She then had her badass moment and killed the giant.

After killing Rokurota, it was all that Sagiri needed to understand how important she was to this quest, also made Gabimaru sees that probably the other people around here aren't just a weight to carry around, but possible valuable people with valuable skills that could help him to achieve his goal to exit the Island back to his wife. The final page of Rokurota's fight with Sagiri, holding his head detached from his body, is badass,s right?

To be frank,nk I already finished volume 3, and a review is coming. Another volume with content that, for me, made this one of my favorites and one I watched in the last years. I think the feelings that the writer/illustrator decided to put in this story are what make this story so special.

Quando comecei a ler Hell's Paradise desde o início, fiquei um pouco em dúvida se essa era a abordagem certa depois de assistir às 2 temporadas disponíveis; o anime cobre cerca de 10 dos 13 volumes e termina a história de Hell's Paradise. Mas eu não queria esperar, e acho que recomeçar a história pelo mangá foi melhor; isso me trouxe pensamentos mais interessantes e uma compreensão melhor da história e do contexto do mangá.

O volume 1 foi bom; trouxe alguns debates sobre mortalidade e culpa. Mas o volume 2 pode ser aquele que está trazendo alguns outros temas interessantes, com o foco em Sagiri mostrando que ela é uma verdadeira badass. Mas provavelmente a história traz alguns novos personagens que ajudariam Sagiri e Gabimaru na missão de mantê-los vivos e conseguir o Elixir da Vida. Os três primeiros que a dupla encontra são a criminosa Yuzuriha, uma ninja sedutora que é acompanhada por dois samurais, os samurais originalmente designados para ela, Senta e Genji, que matam a criminosa depois que ela tenta escapar. Genji decide ajudar Senta, considerando Yuzuriha perigosa demais. Yuzuriha percebe que Gabimaru é forte e decide que é uma boa ideia ficar do lado dos fortes, mas tenta seduzi-lo e, apesar de ser um criminoso, Gabimaru não reage bem a isso.

A outra dupla apresentada, mas que por enquanto é uma história paralela, é formada pelos irmãos Aza, o criminoso Chobei e o samurai designado para Toma. Apesar de Toma ser um samurai, ele é muito submisso ao irmão, que sempre cuidou dele. Chobei é selvagem e até o chama de deus depois de matar alguns monstros. Ele é forte e extraordinário.

Mas, com certeza, a parte mais importante é quando o samurai Genji diz a Sagiri que, por ela ser uma mulher, aquele lugar era perigoso demais para alguém como ela. Mas Sagiri lhe ensina uma lição que, no fim de sua vida, em seus momentos finais, depois de ser mortalmente ferido pelo gigante criminoso Rokurota, faz com que ele admita que estava errado. E provavelmente esse é um dos momentos mais emocionantes do mangá. Primeiro, Genji tentando subjugar Sagiri; depois, Sagiri se rebelando contra a ordem e Genji entregando sua espada a Sagiri, reconhecendo que ela é uma samurai digna.

Em seus momentos finais, Genji confia em Sagiri para matar o criminoso, não em Gabimaru ou qualquer outro homem, mas ele sabia que apenas Sagiri conseguiria fazer isso. Então ela teve seu momento badass e matou o gigante.

Depois de matar Rokurota, isso foi tudo o que Sagiri precisava para entender o quanto ela era importante para essa missão. Isso também fez Gabimaru perceber que provavelmente as outras pessoas ao redor dele não são apenas um peso para carregar, mas pessoas potencialmente valiosas, com habilidades importantes que poderiam ajudá-lo a alcançar seu objetivo de sair da Ilha e voltar para sua esposa. A página final da luta de Rokurota com Sagiri, segurando a cabeça dele separada do corpo, é muito badass, não é?

Para ser sincero, eu já terminei o volume 3, e uma resenha está a caminho. Outro volume com um conteúdo que, para mim, fez desta uma das minhas histórias favoritas e um dos melhores animes que assisti nos últimos anos. Acho que os sentimentos que o escritor/ilustrador decidiu colocar nesta história são o que a tornam tão especial.
