[Anime] Tengoku Daimakyo, season 1, an anime bringing many adult topics in a sci-fi environment.

  I was looking for anime with more of an adult theme with philosophical discussions, and I found this one, Tengoku Daimakyo, also known as Heavenly Delusion. This anime was released in 2023 based on a manga written and illustrated by Masakazu Ishiguro. I watched a quick review on YouTube first that made me curious about it. The story is different from most anime/manga stories: you don't predict the actions of a character since there isn't that part of reflection that you are used to when Goku is scared or planning an attack in DBZ. You can't see the thoughts unless they talk and tell another character. I found this anime on Disney+, by the way.

  This is an interesting approach for the story, since you will see a character pointing somewhere. The anime season released in 2023 has 13 episodes, and the main problem is that we are still waiting for a next season. I saw some Reddit comments saying that they are "planning" a next season. Which makes me wonder if it will really be concluded. Anyways, let's go with the analysis about the story and my thoughts about it.

  It is the type of story that you get more questions than answers. The first interesting thing is about two different stories happening at the same time. The first is a school of kids in a place called "paradise" where they have a perfect life, and the second is a pair of a girl and a boy trying to survive the outer world. The background is the same: a post-apocalyptic world where a big event happened, and no one is very sure about what exactly happened; there are some speculations about a war or alien invasion. We only know that the world got destroyed and there isn't electricity or power; in addition, there are these monsters called "human eaters" that have different forms, sometimes looking like a hybrid of human parts and other things, including animals.

  The school with these kids living a better life isolated from the outside world is also weird because in many moments the kids show possessing extra-human powers, and until the end of season 1 we still don't know for sure the origin of these kids. The young pair walking through the young woman Kiriko and the teenager Maru, arewalkingg through the destroyed world. Kiriko is protecting Maru to find a place called Heaven with we conclude is the school. Kiriko is a strong woman, but during the season we realise that she isn't quite a woman, since she is a product of the fusion of a boy and a girl (Yeah, that looks confusing). But in summary,y a brother and sister had an event with a human eater, er and in the end the boy's brain went into the girl's body. So one of the questions is: the doctor who did the surgery- to understand it better, which for now we don't know much about how that was possible. We only know that the boy's last memory before waking up was in his normal body, and then he woke up in his sister's body.

  Despite the confusion and questions that season 1 brought us- more questions than understanding the context, for sure- it brings interesting and emotional paradigms about our lives. In one episode, we saw a former engineer helping people get robotic members with basic garbage, but his main goal was to help a girl who was dying and suffering; her future looked like it would turn into a man-eater. Maru helped him to finish her life and end the suffering, but the guy's life became empty,y and he also decided to end his life. Tragic stories like this, despite the weird and sci-fi story bring us think about the meaning of life. It is a good anime with a sci-fi background, but it brings up many debates about life, gender, friendship, and the horrors of humanity. In the end, the human eaters aren't the biggest monsters in the story. Well, I will need to look for the manga if I want to follow the story.

  The anime is so interesting that even the opening has a very different Japanese Girl band called Bish. It looks like an alternative rock band, but I saw on YouTube that they don't play any instruments, so it is like a Girl band but a bit alternative/punk, so different. I liked it. O cenário é o mesmo: um mundo pós-apocalíptico onde um grande evento aconteceu, e ninguém tem muita certeza sobre o que exatamente aconteceu; existem algumas especulações sobre uma guerra ou invasão alienígena. Nós só sabemos que o mundo foi destruído e não há eletricidade ou energia; além disso, existem esses monstros chamados "comedores de humanos" que têm diferentes formas, às vezes parecendo um híbrido de partes humanas e outras coisas, incluindo animais.

  A escola com essas crianças vivendo uma vida melhor, isoladas do mundo exterior, também é estranha porque em muitos momentos as crianças demonstram possuir poderes extra-humanos, e até o final da temporada 1 ainda não sabemos com certeza a origem dessas crianças. A jovem dupla formada pela jovem mulher Kiriko e pelo adolescente Maru está caminhando pelo mundo destruído. Kiriko está protegendo Maru para encontrar um lugar chamado Paraíso que concluímos ser a escola. Kiriko é uma mulher forte, mas durante a temporada percebemos que ela não é exatamente uma mulher, já que é o produto da fusão de um garoto e uma garota (Sim, isso parece confuso). Mas, resumindo, um irmão e uma irmã tiveram um acontecimento com um comedor de humanos, e no final o cérebro do garoto foi para o corpo da garota. Então uma das perguntas é: o médico que fez a cirurgia — para entender melhor, que por enquanto não sabemos muito sobre como isso foi possível. Só sabemos que a última memória do garoto antes de acordar era em seu corpo normal, e então ele acordou no corpo de sua irmã.

  Apesar da confusão e das perguntas que a temporada 1 nos trouxe — mais perguntas do que compreensão do contexto, com certeza — ela traz paradigmas interessantes e emocionais sobre nossas vidas. Em um episódio, vimos um ex-engenheiro ajudando pessoas a obter membros robóticos com lixo básico, mas o principal objetivo dele era ajudar uma garota que estava morrendo e sofrendo, e seu futuro parecia que seria se transformar em um comedor de humanos. Maru o ajudou a terminar a vida dela e acabar com o sofrimento, mas a vida do cara ficou vazia, e ele decidiu também acabar com sua vida. Histórias trágicas como esta, apesar da história estranha e de ficção científica, nos fazem pensar sobre o significado da vida. É um bom anime com um cenário de ficção científica, mas ele traz muitos debates sobre vida, gênero, amizade e os horrores da humanidade. No final, os comedores de humanos não são os maiores monstros da história. Bem, vou precisar procurar o mangá se quiser acompanhar a história.

  O anime é tão interessante que até a abertura tem uma banda japonesa de garotas muito diferente chamada Bish. Parece uma banda de rock alternativo, mas vi no YouTube que elas não tocam nenhum instrumento, então é como uma Girl band, mas um pouco alternativa/punk, tão diferente. Eu gostei.
