The Bears Did What?!?!

Normally when I say that it is after the Bears have done something unbelievable stupid like trading up to draft Mitch Trubisky, trading for smoking Jay Cutler, giving refrigerator Perry a touchdown carry in the Super Bowl instead of Walter Payton… the list is endless.

But for the first time in a long time I am blown away by the Bears doing something incredibly smart.

Earlier today, the Bears traded two first round picks for Titans defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons.

It is very rare to trade two number one picks. But there is more to that story. With the coach and QB the Bears have, they have a real chance to win a Super Bowl every year for the foreseeable future. That means the picks they traded away should be between 28 and 32. So those picks are not very high. IMG_0622.jpeg

In addition, the Bears got the best defensive tackle in the league. And that position is one of the most devastating to an offense when they can apply pressure up the middle. And that is exactly what the Bears needed. They need to pressure the quarter back and now they can… without blitzing 2 guys every time.

This move helps every single player on defense. It makes it easier for the edges to rush the qb becuase they can’t be double teamed. It helps everyone in the secondary because they have to cover for less time.

This is the 3rd time in three years that the Bears did exactly what they should have. They drafted Caleb Williams, hired Ben Johnson, and now they traded for the exact player they needed. I’m shocked!

If this team stays healthy, they now have a real shot at the Super Bowl. What a weird feeling.

Two firsts for the best DT in the league is a no-brainer when your window's open. Interior pressure wrecks game plans faster than any edge rusher. Bears fans finally get to enjoy the other side of this.

The Bears are being the Bears—ever since I’ve been following them here on #Hive, they’ve improved a lot. Over the last three years in particular, the management has been doing a great job, so it’s not crazy to dream of the Bears winning the Super Bowl—and the best part is that they could potentially win several in a row, given that they have a young core.

After all those years of disappointment, I can understand why you’re shocked. Hopefully, the Bears finally know what they are doing this time. 😅

I'm honestly low key pulling for the Bears given the fact that the Lions are probably a lost cause. Especially versus the other two options.
