RAIN OR SUNSHINE, LIFE MUST GO ON - LOH312

When I hear people talk about spring, summer, autumn and winter I wonder what it feels like to live in a place where the year comes with four different seasons because Here in Nigeria, especially where I live we mostly talk about two major seasons.. the rainy season and the dry season...

The rainy season can make you feel like the sky has a personal problem with your plans... You could wake up in the morning, see a little sunshine and decide to go out Before you know it, the clouds gather, the rain starts falling and you're somewhere asking yourself why you didn't just stay at home and don't even get me started on the traffic and flooded roads that sometimes come with heavy rain... A journey that should take twenty minutes can suddenly become an opportunity to reflect on all your life decisions...

Then we have the dry season. The rain gives us a break but the heat comes with its own problems... Sometimes, you can sit quietly in your room and still feel as if you've been running around all day.. You take a bath, feel refreshed for about five minutes and somehow, you're already sweating again.. So, if someone asks me whether I prefer predictable weather or variety, I think my answer would be somewhere in between..

I like knowing what to expect.. There's something comforting about waking up and having a general idea of what the day might look like because you can plan your activities, decide what to wear and then go about your business without constantly checking the sky but I also think a little variety makes life interesting... So Imagine waking up every day to exactly the same weather, the same temperature and the same atmosphere... After a while it would obviously get boring... Still, I have to admit that I like the dry season more when it comes to going out and getting things done.. I don't have to worry as much about rain interrupting my plans or finding myself stranded somewhere because the weather suddenly changed... But i wouldn't say the rainy season has nothing to offer... There's something peaceful about listening to rain fall, especially when you're indoors with nowhere urgent to go... The sound can be relaxing and the cooler atmosphere can make it easier to sit down, think, read, or write... Of course, that peaceful feeling disappears quickly when you remember that you have somewhere to be and no umbrella.

One thing I've also noticed is that the weather can influence my mood.. When the heat becomes too much, I can become uncomfortable and less interested in doing anything that requires too much energy.. Cooler weather, on the other hand, makes me feel more relaxed.
