I don't know if this initiative was part of the Mural Festival, but Nelson, a Chilean artist and tattoo artist based in Montreal, decided to fill potholes in the sidewalks with mosaics. It reminds me of the work of Ememem in Lyon (I think I wrote an article about him). It's cool to see flacking (the name of this technique) spreading to every continent
Je ne sais pas si cette initiative faisait parti du Mural Festival, mais Nelson, un artiste et tatoueur chilien, installé à Montréal, a décidé de boucher les trous dans les trottoirs avec de la mosaïque. Cela me rappelle le travail de Ememem à Lyon (je pense que j'ai fait un article à son sujet). C'est cool de voir la technique du flacking se retrouver sur tous les continents.

Nelson
Nelson aka Nelson Barra is a Chilean artist and tattoo artist. He was stuck in Montreal during the COVID lockdown. And thanks to cycling trips around the province, he learned to love Quebec and decided to stay.
Nelson aka Nelson Barra est un artiste et tatoueur chilien. Il a été bloqué à Montréal lors du confinement à cause de la COVID. Et grâce à des voyages en vélo dans la province, il a appris à aimer le Québec et y rester.
He learned the technique in his country and, now, shares it freely with anyone who wants it in his workshop in Montreal. He leaves his "gifts," as he calls his works, in the streets. For him: "It's a simple gesture, but for me it's a way to bring a little art and surprise to the people who pass by every day." (source: La Presse, only in French).
Il a appris la technique dans son pays et la partage gratuitement à qui veut dans son atelier. Il dépose ses "cadeaux" comme il appelle ses œuvres dans les rues de Montréal. Pour lui : « C’est un geste simple, mais pour moi c’est une manière d’apporter un peu d’art et de surprise aux gens qui passent tous les jours. » (source : La Presse).
The different ceramics used are really nice, with lots of colors and exotic animals, like on this second gift near Jeanne Mance Park. Many people stop to admire the work. Really cool...

I really like this photo with my shadow 😀. But especially this mosaic with the snowman and the fleur-de-lis, which perfectly represent Quebec. While writing this article, I just realized that his stay might be coming to an end because his visa is about to expire. And now the application process has become quite complicated. I hope he'll be able to stay; artists are important in a society.
J'aime bien cette photo avec mon ombre 😀. Mais surtout cette mosaïque avec ce bonhomme de neige et la fleur de lys qui représentent bien le Québec. En faisant cet article, je viens de voir que son séjour peut-être touche à sa fin car son visa touche à sa fin. Et maintenant les procédures d'obtention se sont bien compliquées. J'espère qu'il va pouvoir rester, les artistes sont importants dans une société.
