Losing my two dogs, Rooney and Brownie, has been one of the most painful experiences I have had recently. Honestly, I am still struggling to get over it.
It all started when Brownie, my brown Boerboel, fell sick. Unfortunately, I had not contacted the veterinary doctor who had been attending to her, hoping that I will take her to the state #veterinaryhospital. This was just because it was a Sunday evening, but that same evening Brownie passed away. It was painful, but I never imagined that another tragedy was waiting for me.
I had recently bought Rooney, my #GermanShepherd. She was healthy, energetic, and agile. Nothing suggested that I would lose her so soon.
Less than 24 hours after Brownie died, I went to the dog house and discovered that Rooney was also dead. I was devastated. I wept so bitterly because I could not understand how I had lost two dogs within such a short period. Even now, I have not fully recovered from the shock.
It was only after the veterinary doctor came around and requested a test that we discovered the cause. The result revealed that Brownie had been infected with parvovirus, a highly contagious disease that can be deadly to dogs.
Sadly, I was unaware that the virus could remain in places and on surfaces where the sick dog had been. Rooney may have come into contact with the contaminated environment.
This experience has taught me a painful lesson about pet care, vaccination, hygiene, and the importance of seeking veterinary attention early. Rest in peace, Brownie and Rooney. You will always be remembered..
