Before Hive, I mostly spent my time online using Facebook, TikTok and other platforms. I enjoyed being online, but I never really saw myself as a writer or someone who could turn creativity into written content. I was more comfortable creating things than writing about them.
Later, a friend introduced me to Hive because she knew I was involved in creative and craft work. She told me that my creativity could find a place on Hive, so I decided to give it a try. However, starting was not easy. I could make crafts more easily than write about them. Sometimes, I could spend days creating something and then spend even more time trying to explain the process. With time, I gradually improved at writing and presenting my work.
As I became more comfortable, Hive also changed how I used social media. Instead of only scrolling, I started thinking more about what I could create and share. I began participating in craft competitions, sharing my work and creating useful content. Along the way, I also met people through Hive. Some of them have become friends, and we even have a WhatsApp group where we continue our discussions outside Hive. So, it became more than writing and posting.
Another thing that made #Hive meaningful to me was being able to withdraw twice and use some of what I received for my craft activities. It showed me that my online efforts could support my offline work.
Of course, the journey has not been without challenges. One experience I will not forget was having one of my DIY posts penalized because it was considered to have used AI. I had spent days working on the craft and writing the post, so it was painful. Being new, I did not know what to do. I spoke with the friend who introduced me, and she encouraged me not to give up.
Today, I see Hive as more than just another social media platform. It has helped me improve my writing, creativity, thinking and communication. To me, Hive has become another form of education, and I believe there is still more for me to learn and create.
