A Window into the Past with HiveSuite

image.png

Greetings, dear friends at Indiaunited. Me complace participar en el Nuevo concurso de la semana "Which HiveSuite game caught your eye, and why?". Games have been around since ancient times. I remember starting with board games at a very young age—they’re the first things our parents give us as soon as we’re old enough to understand. And the fact is, they’re truly educational, entertaining, and our best allies in cognitive and motor development as we grow up.

As technology evolved, these games became virtual, and with them came video games; suddenly, it became more fun to play them on a PC, tablet, or cell phone. I’m grateful for all the time I was able to enjoy board games and video games. Now that I’m an adult, I don’t have time to play, but thanks to this weekly contest, I opened a door to the past and remembered the magic of playing all over again.

I logged into HiveSuite, just as the contest rules ask, and wow, I was impressed—this really is a very comprehensive project that also introduces us to the world of games. There are 52 in total, and I was already familiar with many of them. Most of these games are classics; I’ve played some of them—puzzles, Pac-Man, Battleship, Ludo, Chess, Snake, Solitaire, and Sudoku—just to name a few from that little world. I was pleased to learn that Hive brings us incredible projects where everything is concentrated in one place—an ecosystem that has it all. I played on HiveSuite and was reminded of one of my favorites: the puzzle game—a game that stimulates your memory and puts your cognitive skills to the test. This isn’t just theory; I tested it out in practice.

Although putting together puzzles is a fascinating and challenging activity for me, I like to play games to relax—and, of course, that goes hand in hand with mental agility and advancing through levels. The game I’d choose after exploring HiveSuite is Tetris; I played it right on my laptop, and I like it for several reasons. At first, everything moves slowly, and I find it fun to arrange the pieces so that the walls don’t rise—this is the key to not losing and advancing to the next level. When I see the piece falling and figure out how to place it so it fits properly, it first prompts me to do the mental work, and then to put it into practice using my motor skills; here, mind and body work together to achieve the goal.

Playing Tetris distracts me; I forget everything for a moment because I'm completely focused on arranging the pieces in the best possible way to move forward—it's a competition against myself. As the level progresses, the pieces fall faster and faster, which in turn forces you to think and move your fingers quickly. This is another benefit: it promotes quick thinking and decision-making under pressure—skills that are very applicable in my current field of work. For that reason and more, I choose Tetris—it helps me with concentration and memory, in addition to reducing anxiety and improving coordination.

After this enjoyable experience and learning about the HiveSuite project, I think I’ll make time in my schedule not only to take a trip down memory lane, but also to have a little fun again, break out of my routine, and enjoy the wonderful benefits of games. Come on! There are 52 of them—I have plenty to choose from.

This was my entry. See you next time.

Thank you for reading

Tetris is such a good choice because the game starts off simple but quickly demands concentration and fast decision-making
