Greetings dear friends of Movies and TV Shows,
October is almost over, and with it, Halloween is approaching—the most eerie day of the year, filled with paranormal and spiritual activity. I didn’t want to let this month end without stopping by this community to review a horror movie a friend recommended to me, called “Obsession.” It premiered in September 2025 and hit U.S. theaters in May 2026. This movie had me hooked from the very beginning; it’s a mix of horror, mystery, and dark comedy—though it does have some scenes that are a bit unsettling; I’d say they’re pretty weird.
The movie has an interesting and almost innocent beginning—the classic setup: coworkers who seem to be friends, who hang out together, with unrequited romantic interests, as is the case with Bear, a character played by Michael Johnston, the typical shy guy who secretly loves his coworker, Nikki (Inde Navarrette). Bear isn’t a good-looking guy, nor is he ugly—and I’m not just talking about his appearance—nor does he have a charming personality; he’s just kind of too ordinary. Our main character wasn’t able to confess his love to Nikki, who saw him only as a friend—or a little brother.
Unable to confess his feelings, Bear is presented with what seems to be the perfect opportunity to win Nikki over when her necklace—which appears to be a charm—breaks. To win her over, he promises to buy her a new one, but instead, he buys a little toy that grants wishes—guess what Bear’s wish was? What did he want more than anything in the world? For Nikki to love him—just like that, more than anything or anyone else in this world—and that wish was granted. Everything was going well at the beginning of their “relationship,” but then there were consequences—and very terrifying ones at that.
I won’t tell you any more, so that if you end up watching it, you can follow the plot from start to finish and see where this obsession—which I’m not sure belongs to her, him, or both—ends up. What I can tell you is that this isn’t your typical gory horror movie; there is blood, but not much—I only saw one character covered in blood in a single scene while he was being murdered. By the way, that scene was pretty weird—the way the character looked as he was being slammed against a steering wheel. Don’t expect any spectacular special effects from this horror-thriller either; the movie is more of a low-budget style. Another element of this film is its dark humor, which is quite pronounced and also makes it clear that the gross stuff doesn’t have to be shown in a graphic way—but it is very, very cruel.
I watched this movie on one of the new streaming platforms on my Smart TV, where the Spanish audio sounded terrible—the volume was very low, and I had to strain to hear it. An acquaintance told me that in the original language, it sounds pretty good and comes with its own translation. In this movie, written and directed by Curry Barker, there’s no room for boredom—it’s very entertaining and has a clear message: “Be careful what you wish for,” how you wish for it, and above all, how you say it.
Thank you for your attention

Saludos estimados amigos de Movies and TV Shows
