Laksa Lemak

It was time to head home after our last errand for the day. But then our hungry tummies (truthfully speaking, our cravings) prompted us to visit Merlion Resto first. The food place serves Singaporean and other Asian dishes.

They have moved to a smaller space, but at a better location, closer to other commercial establishments, schools and just along the main street we were on.

Anyway, since it was raining and cold, we both wanted hot soup, hence the hubby ordered the traditional Singapore Laksa.

As we expected, the dish had that really nice aroma. Tasty rice noodles in rich, savory, and mildly-spiced broth, topped with tofu, flavorful chicken, bean sprouts, and some veggies.

The dish came with an extra serving of hot (spicy) creamy and fragrant broth, which we added to our bowls. The spicyness made my throat itchy, and I couldn't help but cough profusely I had to cover half of my face for seconds. Thankfully, the other diners were not close to our table and they were busy with their own stuff to be bothered or to even notice.😅

A lil story:

The hubby had to wait for his bowl, as the attendant misunderstood our order and served us with only one set, instead of two. Good thing they were quick to prepare and it came in less than 10 minutes, just in time before I finished mine.

Yongi, on the other hand, quietly sat beside me, and enjoyed the tiny bits of chicken on his bowl.

But yeah, cravings satisfied! We left the resto with happy tastebuds and full tummies. We would surely drop by again, and maybe stay a little longer to read one of the books in their shelf by the corner.

I did pick a very interesting one, took a few photos, flipped its pages and tried to read a few lines but my eyes failed me (the letterings were too small). I'd make sure to bring a reading glass next time🫠

Laksa is definitely a favourite of ours! It's quite common here in Australia. We do love it! In fact you've made me think of making one this week, maybe with tofu or fresh eggs from the garden - or both!
