[TV] Serie: One Hundred Years of Solitude

Bringing a book’s story to life on screen is no easy task; I have the utmost respect and admiration for the people who take on this work. They take us on a journey through time via these stories we once read, and in turn, we imagined the settings, the main characters, their faces, their actions, and every word told—all reflected in these books—and now seeing them on screen takes it to a whole new level.

🎬 One Hundred Years of Solitude 🎬

One Hundred Years of Solitude—that’s the title of this story. I remember reading it in high school; in fact, I still had the book, but time flies. Anyway, when I heard they’d made a series based on this book, I didn’t pay much attention to it at first; we all know that lately Netflix has been putting out stuff that, well, tends to disappoint us. However, there’s no denying that they really outdid themselves with this one; it was undoubtedly a great investment. The mere fact of recreating the entire story of Macondo in such short episodes is quite a challenge.

For those unfamiliar with this story, One Hundred Years of Solitude is a novel by the famous writer Gabriel García Márquez, which chronicles the life of the Buendía family and how Aureliano and Úrsula set out on a journey in search of a new place to live; from there, Macondo was born.

The series delves into this world steeped in mythology, with its unique way of narrating each scene, inviting the viewer to become part of the story—which makes it even more compelling and engaging. It takes you on a journey through time, as if you were reading the book all over again, but here we can put a face to each character—the various Aurelianos, who used to confuse us because their names were repeated so often across each generation.

To be honest, I was really captivated by this series—it had great settings and characters. Everyone nailed their roles, starting with the family matriarch, the famous Úrsula Iguarán. There’s no doubt that her role was unique; she made a huge impression and stood out in every scene.

Obviously, those of us who read the book were expecting a true masterpiece—and I’m not saying it is one—but in my opinion, they did a great job; as I said, in every scene and every episode, we saw the story reflected and retold faithfully to the original text.

I haven’t finished watching it yet—I’m in the second part, on episode 3—but it’s definitely worth watching, so if you haven’t seen this story, I recommend it 100%.😍

Recrear la historia de un libro, llevarlo a la pantalla no es tarea fácil; mis respetos y admiración para las personas que se encargan de hacer este trabajo. Hacen que viajemos en el tiempo a través de estas historias que en algún momento leímos, y a su vez, nos imaginábamos los escenarios, los protagonistas, sus rostros, acciones, cada palabra relatada, reflejada en estos libros, y ahora verlos en pantalla es otro nivel.

Cien años de soledad, así se llama esta historia. Recuerdo haberla leído en bachillerato; de hecho, aún conservaba el libro, pero los años pasan. En fin, cuando escuché que habían sacado la serie de este libro, al principio no le presté atención; bien sabemos que últimamente Netflix saca unas cosas que, bueno, suelen desanimarnos. Sin embargo, no se puede negar que con esta se botaron; sin duda, fue una gran inversión. El simple hecho de recrear toda la historia de Macondo en tan cortos capítulos es todo un reto.

Para los que desconocen esta historia, Cien años de soledad es una obra literaria del famoso escritor Gabriel García Márquez, la cual relata la vida de la familia Buendía, de cómo Aureliano y Úrsula emprendieron un viaje en busca de un nuevo lugar donde vivir; de allí nace Macondo.

La serie se embarca en este mundo lleno de mitología, con su forma de narrar cada escena, donde invita al espectador a ser parte de esta historia, lo cual lo hace aún más atractivo y visible. Te hace viajar en el tiempo, como si estuvieras de nuevo leyendo el libro, pero aquí podemos darle un rostro a cada personaje, los diferentes Aurelianos, los cuales solían confundirnos, siendo tan repetidos sus nombres a través de cada generación.

A mí me cautivó mucho esta serie, la verdad, contó con buenos escenarios y personajes. Todos cumplieron con cada papel, empezando por la matriarca de la familia, la famosa Úrsula Iguarán. No cabe duda de que su papel fue único, causando una gran impresión y resalte en cada escena.

Obviamente, para quienes leímos el libro, esperábamos una verdadera obra maestra, y no digo que lo sea, pero en mi opinión, hicieron un gran trabajo; como dije, en cada escena, cada episodio, veíamos la historia reflejada y relatada al texto original.

Aún no lo he terminado de ver, estoy en la segunda parte, en el capítulo 3, pero sin duda vale la pena verla, así que si no has visto esta historia, te la recomiendo al 100%.😍
