Hoy quiero compartir una preparación que disfruté muchísimo hacer: unos panes caseros, sencillos, suaves y hechos completamente en la cocina. No necesité demasiados ingredientes ni una preparación complicada. La masa fue bastante fácil de trabajar y, para hacerlos todavía más especiales, decidí rellenarlos con una rica salsa acompañada de cebollas caramelizadas. El resultado fue una combinación deliciosa entre el pan esponjoso, la salsa y ese toque ligeramente dulce de las cebollas. Lo mejor de esta receta es que demuestra que no tener horno no significa renunciar a disfrutar de unos buenos panes caseros. Today I want to share a recipe that I really enjoyed making: homemade bread rolls that are simple, soft, and prepared entirely on the stovetop. I didn’t need many ingredients or a complicated process. The dough was easy to work with, and to make these breads even more special, I decided to fill them with a delicious sauce and caramelized onions. The result was a wonderful combination of fluffy bread, flavorful sauce, and the slightly sweet taste of the onions. The best part is that this recipe proves that not having an oven doesn’t mean giving up on enjoying homemade bread. So today, I invite you to join me on this little homemade baking adventure.

2 tazas de harina de trigo, 1 cucharada de azúcar, 1 pizca de sal, 1 huevo, 1 cucharada de polvo para hornear, 1/2 taza de agua tibia, 3 cucharadas de aceite, para la salsa: 1 cebolla, 2 dientes de ajo, 2 cucharadas de concentrado de tomate, 1/2 taza de leche, sal y orégano al gusto.

Primero debemos hacer la masa, en un bol añadimos la harina de trigo, en el centro de la harina añadimos el huevo, el azúcar, el aceite, la pizca de sal, el polvo para hornear, mezclamos todo, y vamos añadiendo poco a poco agua hasta formar una masa compacta, tapamos y dejamos reposar unos 30 minutos, mientras lavamos y cortamos la cebolla en media luna, machamos los dientes de ajo.
First, we need to make the dough. In a bowl, add the wheat flour; in the center of the flour, add the egg, sugar, oil, a pinch of salt, and baking powder. Mix everything together, then gradually add water until a firm dough forms. Cover and let it rest for about 30 minutes, while you wash and slice the onion into half-moons and crush the garlic cloves.
En un sartén añadimos aceite e incorporamos la cebolla y el ajo, dejen caramelizar las cebollas y sazonen con sal y orégano, añadan el concentrado de tomate, la leche y cocinen hasta espesar. La masa ya estará lista para armar los panes, enharinen una olla con tapa, coloquen en la cocina a fuego bajo, dejen calentar unos 5 minutos antes de colocar los panes, al colocar los panes tapen y dejen cocinar.
In a skillet, add oil and sauté the onion and garlic. Let the onions caramelize, then season with salt and oregano. Add the tomato paste and milk, and cook until thickened. The dough is now ready to shape into buns. Dust a pot with a lid with flour, place it on the stove over low heat, and let it warm up for about 5 minutes before adding the buns. Once the buns are in the pot, cover and let them cook.
Cocinen los panes primero 6 minutos por un lado y luego 6 minutos por el otro, es un pan de cocción rápida, aunque pueden abrir uno de los panes para verificar que están listos, retiren del fuego, rellenen con la salsa, queso y jamón, una delicia.
Bake the bread for 6 minutes on one side and then 6 minutes on the other. It’s a quick-bake bread, though you can cut open one of them to check if they’re done. Remove from the heat, fill with the sauce, cheese, and ham—it’s delicious.
After making these bread rolls, I think the real reward was having that wonderful smell of freshly baked bread filling the kitchen. And when I finally tasted the filling together with the caramelized onions, I knew the experiment had been completely worth it.
