Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a battle where I did won because I had a better strategy.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan
The rulesets this time are Armored Up and Collateral Damage. This means that all monsters gain +2 armor and the reckless ability. There is also 29 mana available, and I can use earth or dragon splinter.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Underboss Fabino | 5 | Summoner | +2 melee or poison |
| Halfling Refugee | 1 | 1st | |
| Lurking Puffer | 2 | 2nd | Corrosive Ward |
| Mantaroth | 11 | 3rd | Shield and Armored Strike |
| Pallus | 8 | 4th | Flying and Reach |
| Total Mana: | 27 |
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Underboss Fabino for the +2 melee damage for 2 units. My tank is Halfling Refugee, and my backup tank is Lurking Puffer. Finally, I have Mantaroth and Pallus. My plan is to let my first two monsters tank damage and finish off the remaining monsters with Mantaroth and Pallus.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, but I have an advantage in an extended battle as my opponent just kills off his own team.
Round 5
A few rounds later, my opponent and me is left with 2 monsters, but my monsters are stronger than my opponent.
I won later that round.
Conclusion
I won the match because my strategy worked out. Letting my opponent kill himself, then finishing off the rest with Mantaroth and Pallus worked out great. My archon also increased their damage, so they were the perfect finishers in this match of Collateral Damage.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
