Long Lost - poetry

Long Lost

I'm your long lost romantic fantasy But in reality you never actually chose me When you're in need of an escape for your mind Afterwards I'm always the one left behind So many times I offered you my heart You were always the one to depart

There's a connection I can't deny In the end that's what makes me cry Out of sight out of mind most of the time Coming back in with the loudest chime Then silently leaving like summer season I'm sure you always have a good reason

Lately you say one day the timing will be right Then you want us to walk our way side by side For a moment this idea takes control of me Then I realize you're also just my romantic fantasy It's easier to dream what could be with you Than putting myself out there for something that's true Maybe this is just a game we both learned to play When real life turns difficult and way too grey

One lifetime isn't enough for you and me To get to what our dreams make us see There will always be something that will keep us apart That will make us finish things before they even start There will always be something that will keep us apart There will always be something that will make it too hard

You're my challenge my inspiration my dream My fantasy's long lost but never - ending theme
